^ What he said. IMHO when people come to sell their Mk6s in a few years time cars without RVC will be as rare as cars sold without A/C these days. The camera and screen technology is getting to that price point where most cars will come with it in the not too distant future.

And if you don't get it you definately won't be able to do this.

So it really should be a no-brainer for the person ordering dealer floor plan. But evidently hardly any GTIs coming into the country have cameras fitted. Big "derr" from me for that oversight.
If Mazda can differentiate by making SatNav standard on some of its Mazda3s perhaps VW would start including the camera on GTIs and Rs . . . the exchange rate has certainly moved in importers' favour in recent months to allow such a move.Last edited by Dubya; 08-09-2010, 05:46 PM.

sorry - posted this in the general MkVI prices thread...
CW DSG 5DR
ACC
Sunroof
MDI
18s
RVC

with corporate discount $50,608.
Checked with work this morning - they wont give me the letter for the corporate discount which takes the price back up to about $55k which is an absolute rip.
They were completely uninterested in my trade (2009 VE Calais V V8 with 18,000km and loaded with 19s, sunroof, mem seats yak yak blah blah) suggesting strongly I sell it privately.
He did say I could leave a deposit of $500 and the final purchase would be subject to sale of my vehicle privately and that if it wasnt sold and I didnt want to go ahead with the sale I would get my deposit back.
Is 47k-48k drive away without corporate discount attainable or am I dreaming?
thanks.Golf 7R | 5 Door | Limestone Grey | DSG | Sunroof | Leather | Driver Assist | Tint | Formerly GTi11.5

$47k would require ~12.8% discount (~$6,892.50) and $48k would require ~10.9% discount (~$5892.50)
Whilst we've definitely seen those % discounts before, your car is relatively low priced anyway and doesn't go into the LCT area, so most of the discount is coming directly from the dealer and not via reduction in taxes. e.g. ~$5,967.73 ex-GST (12.8%) and ~5,097.73 ex-GST (10.9%) respectively.
If you were comparing this to a car which was $72k RRP drive away, and the dealer offered the same $ figure discounts, you'd still end up with a 12.44% and 10.63% discount respectively, yet the dealers figures would be 9.9% and 8.5% respectively.
Hope you get what I'm saying

When we purchased our Tiguan, we had the same issue with not being able to get corporate discount after speaking with the employer and we spoke to the dealer principal and he told us that the corporate discount is worth $900 to him. ( ie, they get $900 from VWA). what he implied was that if you just walk in with good negotiation skills, you should be able to drive the car away at very close to corporate discount price.MY11 Tiguan 147 7Sp DSG, Black, Beige Leather, Sun Roof, RVC, APR Stage 1

Somewhat Corporate + negotiation skillsmy plan was simple... And i guess obvious...
Research this site like crazy and get a price in mind.
Visit a dealership with card in hand and negotiate the **** outta it until a salesman let's you walk away.
Take that price to next dealer as a starting point and shop the **** outta it until they let you walk away... Rinse and repeat with another 6 or so dealerships... (over phone is fine)
When they wont move anymore on price, then put a random call to a REGIONAL dealership... and it must be @ end of the month as they get desperate at this time.
Ask to speak to a random salesperson re: some random question about the car - of course being a salesman they'll ask you why you're enquiring..
Tell them you are about to buy one and of course they'll ask you what price you got..
Remove another grand and disclose and say you've been offered corporate price (even though they haven't) and that you were throwing down a deposit that same day.
The salesperson will go for a desperate sale and will ask for your commitment over the phone if they knock off another $xxx and can offer the same corporate price as well - say yeah I will give you my credit card now if you match corporate, as the guy i've been dealing is a **** head etc hence your call to him re: the car in the 1st place... If he cant match it simply walk away - rinse repeat. They may ask for a letterhead from your hr dept for corporate price but say the original salesperson was taking care of that. Nuff said.
14% off drive away?? Its possible! Fail to plan and you plan to fail.GTI 2011 | 3DR | CW | DSG | Sunroof | Bi Xenons | RVC | MDI | Detroits | Dynaudio | Tint

They'll probably give all on-roads/dealer delivery up in the first hit... then you just wear them down from there... move to next dealer and repeat. Get each to add a few options more (tinted windows, mdi etc). Say you dont want a car with a sunroof but you'll take the car in stock with one for a little extra discount. If you can't get 14% off list then you aint even tryingLast edited by pologti18t; 27-10-2010, 09:55 PM.

Mk VI GTI
Hey guys,
I acheived the following price on my purchase three months ago;
GTI Black Mk VI
DSG
3 door
Tinted window
Leather
Sunroof
MDI
17"
Drive away price I obtained was $46,000. Using Corey’s awesome calculator, this represents a 15.45% saving.
I visited all the Sydney dealers over a few months before i purchased. I walked in very casual each time as I wear a suit six days a week. As in previous posts, some dealers I did not like, some judged me (have i got the money) & others were just out right rude.
I was abused at one dealership for taking a 45 minute test drive (my first in a GTI) and this was in front of fellow customers. I gave him a serve back & walked out disgusted (This dealership is close to an airport).
I’m a GM & through my network I have referred four persons to the dealership where I purchased from – word of mouth is still the strongest form of advertising – and my words are still dirty for the dealership close to the airport as a result of my experience.
In this day & age dealerships can’t afford to be judgemental – competition is fierce.
CheersLast edited by JGTI; 28-10-2010, 06:16 AM.

I've just ditched the polo gti order and will be putting in an order for 3dr candy white GTI manual on Saturday. Quoted 40k drive away at the moment but will prolly add a few options too like larger wheels and whatnot. Is that a good price, also told won't be available till march/April ... Is that normal?
Cheers
