Mud Flaps
Having thoughts about adding mud flaps to my GTI due to arrive in late May 2010. Front mud flaps look okay, rears look a bit long and ****y. Reason being is that the side sills & rear bumper sides are painted in White on my GTI. This will show up a lot of road grime, esp wet bitumen on country routes. Saves on time trying to remove this grime. I would of preferred the side sills to be kept in black, rather than being painted. The older MKV GTI had the sills painted black, which disguised this grime. I have a few pics of dirtied up White GTI's & GTI with mudflaps, but cannot add images for some reason under the advanced section. Read somewhere that OEM VW mudflaps are $80 pair. Nothing on Volkswagen 'accessories' website for the mudflaps. Do have this link to ebay:
Cheers

All I wanted was to know if I could get: MDI, Bi-xenons, DSG and MAYBE the Dynaudio Premium audio to go under 45k, and he did... until he said "I forgot the lights and DSG" effectively adding 3.5k to the price... Kinda hurt cause I was pretty much only wondering if it was possible to get something close to 10% off the price (which with my calculation was 9.4% in terms of what I was asking) And since the price was only 1k from the list price (including onroads) I thought I was being mistreated.
Being 25 and I normally get side swipped by dealers who think I probably cant afford the cars that I want to look at. Kinda getting tired of being called "tiger" and "you're a big boy, you dont need to talk to your dad" comments comming from salespeople... I was a salesperson too in my teen years, I at least know a bit more about respect. Hope it turns out well for you hooba.
Car is on order.--------------------------

For that config, on the road and in VIC, it would be ~$52860. That is including the $1048.85 for the towbar and wiring harness, but not including the ~4 hours labour it takes to install.
Adding sunroof and ACC beings that up to ~$56350.
From those prices you'll obviously be able to negotiate. Take a look through the thread to see what some others in VIC have been able to achieve

Sunroof I will likely pass on.
What is the verdict on ACC ? does it make the ride smoother or only more sharper for handling and driving response ?

Anyone know how much the 18" Detroits cost if you want to purchase them sepratley?
I want them now, but i would have to order a new build just to get the 18s so i am thinking of paying that bit extra to order them in.MK7.5 R|Lapiz Blue|DAP|Sunroof|Tint

Quite honestly, you'd be better of trying to do a deal with your dealer where you swap them off another car that's coming in which already has them. (you know, a 'floor stock' car, not someone elses order).

The other thing you could do is, if you really get stuck with the 17's, you could take them to a painter to have them paint them to look the same as the 18" Detroits (you know, with the black interior to the wheel and 'spoke' sides etc).

They wouldn't look the same. The 18" Detroits have a machined finish.MY20 Golf GTI TCR

How is it dodgy? You know that a large portion of alloy wheels are painted right? Including the 17" GTI wheels, 18 and 19" R wheels etc etc.
That's why it can be so cheap to repair them, because you just sand them back, bog fill, and respray. I've seen pictures on these forums (and VW Vortex) of people how have painted their 17" GTI wheels. Not specifically to match the 18" Detroit. Usually they've been all black, or had the wheel interior and spoke sides as a medium grey colour instead of black. Any competend car body shop should be able to help you out
Edit: This picture is of an 18" Detroit, so you can see the detail of the black paint done at the factory.
I haven't seen the 18" Detroit in person (well, not on a stationary car), so I'm not sure whether the facia is just painted (like the 17") or whether it's actually polished or diamond cut or something. But a bodyshop can certainly do the black paintwork as shown on this picture so you'll get most of the visual effect you're afterLast edited by Corey_R; 14-04-2010, 07:34 PM.
