Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

    • needs to have jack and plates all checked. Compliance plate needs to be fitted. all airbag and warning decals need to be fitted, tyre size and decal checked/fitted. manuals/supplements need to be supplied as per possible RNS discs. Ie, Patrick autocare handle the bit of bringing the car off the boat, ensuring compliance (depending on your dealer, fitting accessories and registering the car) and delivering it to the dealer. ie, you're 2-3 weeks away.
More opportunites have been lost from indecision, rather than wrong decision....

        Hi entice,

        Thanks for the reply.

Got an update from the dealer that the car has passed "build" phase and is now ready to be transported to the dealer. I think it will be too optimistic of me thinking of getting the delivery by this Thursday (before the long weekend)! From what u are saying - looks like it's 15 days or so away!

        Cheers,

        • Has anybody received any Golf R's in Melbourne recently? I tracked my Golf R using the shipping website and it says it landed on the 17/8 and so I've been eagerly waiting for the dealer to contact me to say its arrived, which has not happened yet. I emailed the dealer and he showed me a screenshot that displays it has been received at Patrick Autocare on the 18/8. Can i speak to Patrick autocare to find out anymore information or should i keep hassling the dealer??? Surely it should be ready?

Ordered Jan 12. Received 13 Sep 12.... And its Unbelievable!

Neither the public or the dealership are able to contact PATRICKS; we as the dealer have to go through VGA Logistics, they than contact PATRICKS.
The dealer should be able to give you a rough idea what the status of the car is from the pATRICKS logistics web page; eg. if it is in "on a planned load" it takes about 48 hours or so to get to the dealer - unfortunately not a excact science. Not really the delears fault though as we rely on both VGA & PATRICKS to do their thing.
Just be patient - you've been waiting for some time now, so a few more days surely are not gonna kill you....

            • From dock/port to owners hands - how long?

              HI everyone.

I know my golf landed at Port Kembla on the 29th Dec. Dealer is saying 14 days plus a few days due to holidays.

Does it really take that long to wash and vacuum a car? surely they can PD it in a few days?

              Cheers

Have a read through this thread for the details, but 14 days plus public holidays sounds plausible - but potentially optimistic. It's usually 2-4 weeks from docks to owner. The car has to be complied by Patricks at the docks, and then shipped to the dealer for pre-delivery; the former can take anywhere from 1-2 weeks, and shipping can take days, even before the dealer sees the car.
