How to track the car you have ordered?

Hey all, whats the G-O with peoples R orders, are they getting on promised delivery time? My dealer today gave me the update that there is no update. My R is still a Dealer Spec.

Don't think I'll be getting this car in March....

Danny, I have the same delivery timing as yourself, I spoke with my dealer yesterday and he too said everything has stopped and there is no information. He indicated that personally he had stopped selling them, that is he directs people to other cars rather than the R.

My guess is with Christmas coming on fast and if there is no movement before hand we wont get an update till Jan.

Nothing can be done but wait it out..

My Dealer emailed me last Thursday and told me that my R has been scheduled for Week 5 production, delivery in May. Mind you I did order in August. When did you two order?

It's almost 3 weeks, my dealer hasn't even provided me with a Build Date. I have this feeling they wont start building mine until somewhere in January and I'll only see the car in April rather than March.

There are a lot of GTI owners! It's just that the Golf R is the most recently released and the first several shipments of cars ordered on the release day have all arrived in the past month.

Don't stress about not receiving a build date within 3 weeks - under normal circumstances, no one receives one that quickly!

I ordered my R in the middle of January, and was told there was a 5 month waiting list. They also told me that the factory is on holiday for a month in January. But it's not a good sign when people are ordering in Sept and getting a delivery date of May!

That's a myth which is told every year. Thus far it has not happened. There may be people who take holidays from the factory in January, but there are cars built in January, and plenty of forum members here with Jan built cars to prove it (including my Polo GTI!)

The factory only builds Grey cars in January, something to do with the doom and gloom in Europe.

A case of Mother would solve that!

I must of just read the last 30 pages of this thread and all I can say is, you guys are insane. I've nearly peed myself laughing many times.

My R is on the Don Quijote which is due in Brisbane on 4th January 2011. Dealer has advised me the 23rd for delivery, which sounds about right from what you are all saying. Any other Brisbane bound R's on board the DQ?

I actually wonder, do all the ships carrying our cars pass through the Gulf of Aden? Like you know where hijackings and pirates roam? Gee, if it does go through that spot, I pray that the ships carrying our cars don't get hijacked.

Nope, they can come a few different ways. The Morning Camilla which bought my Golf R, and several other members cars, came down around the west coast of Africa for example.

Hehe yeah crazy hey but it's helped keep my sanity over the past 7 Months of waiting! Finally this Saturday I will be driving it out of the dealership....
