Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

    • I picked up a new set of rims on the weekend for the jetta.

Now to have them stripped of tyres, bit of a clean up and some new tyres.

            • Installed a set of OEM Bi-Xenons that I bought from Germany. Easy to install, the biggest pain was getting the wires for the shutters back through the firewall to the CECM. They seem to be working correctly but I'll test em out when I drive down to Sydney tonight.

              • Wires for the shutter? Don't you just have the conversion cables? I'd be keen to see how they going being LHD

I bought the 10-12 pin adaptors yeah, they have an extra wire to pin 11 that you have to wire back to the CECM for the shutters. It triggers to the shutter to open when you switch on the high beam. I think you can just hook it up to the inside halogen but then "flash to pass" wouldn't work properly (cant control the high beam xenon independently from the halogen).

I think I have the Xenons switched properly to LHD but I should shine the beams on a wall so I can see the pattern. Didn't notice any drivers that were aggravated at my lights on my drive to Sydney so that's a good start.
