Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

Did you tint the rear tail lights yourself? Im going to tint mine aswell but its tint film.
No, they are a set of tinted aftermarket lights. I bought tinted film to do mine but decided it was all too hard, and gave up on it.

      • Sunny day, no work, so the K'archer, buckets and clay came out to play. Looks almost like a car again!
And when the sun drops off, time to wax!

          • I collected the car from BWA after 90k service and some corrective love'n from the previous owners shortcuts.
I was just a little disappointed when I they told me that a 2.0FSI is usually the car that people buy when they don't want to do anything to it.
I was really looking forward to a nice CAI, exhaust update and ECU flash, to up the entertainment a little.
Oh well, I guess I have to start trawling the interwebs to try and find my own solutions.

My new RS4 replicas arrived yesterday. 17 x 7.5, will smarten the new girl a bit. 225/45/17 Pirelli P7s on order, should get them fitted on Friday, I'll post some photos on the weekend.

                • Finally got around to cleaning the inside from the previous owner.
Gave the outside a good scrub. Now its onto a clay block, cut and buff, and a good polish next weekend.
Oh and finally got my new center caps for my new wheels.
If I can only sort the white worm in the rear badge.

                      • Transferred to Vic rego, so new, standard plates. One step closer to becoming a Victorian. It's all down hill from here.

I've found Mk5 brakes to be pretty good. Saved my backside on at least one occasion where in a lesser car I would have crashed when someone pulled out in front of me.

                        • 105k service done. Now drives like new, and it'll easily rack up another 105k kms. All it needs is a wash, since VW Village only cleaned 1/100th of it to apply their sticker onto the window... But hey I'm happy to advertise them for a while since they always do a great job with the Jetta, as well as the old man's Passat, and my brother's distinct white Octavia with 19" black rims if anyone's seen that riding around town...

                            • What did you do to your Mk5 today?

Hey guys...first post on the retrofit vibe

Last weekend I got round to installing the centre armrest in my mk5 GT Sport that I got off the 'Bay.

8 out of 10 overall. Only niggling issue is the securing fitments at the rear base. Not as flush as they could be but I can live with this.

Pic won't upload for some reason.

Next up I'm using JohnC's guide to swap out my 30GB HDD for a 64GB SSD!!!

                              • I installed front splash guards, and put in a boot liner. Probably the only 2 mods I'll do on the Jetta.
