re-applied RainX to all the windows. Makes driving in the rain sooo much easier.

Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled
After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.
Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before.
We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

Put a nice scrape the side skirt.
I was turning left onto a three lane road and had some fwit in a Camry turning right opposite me not wait and drive straight into the middle lane forcing me to turn sharply to avoid hitting him and caught the gutter with the side skirt.08 Golf GTI - SOLD

Had the mechatronic unit replaced in the DSG.. under warranty!. Car had been stalling when shifting from park to D, and clunking into first at the lights when moving off.
Replaced at Barlow World Glen Waverley, they gave me a loaner too, a silver Mk 6 103 TDi. They go alright they do, but doesn't feel as 'whhoooshy' as the Mk 5 does when you give it the berries at the lights. DSG was lovely though, far better than any Mk 5 i've been in..
Anyway, they replaced the mechatronic unit, DSG oil, gaskets etc, and a solitary wiper blade. I'd noticed that an end cap had launched itself since the last service (less than 1000km ago) and they replaced it too, with no charge.
So, $6000 worth of warranty work (so said the service guy), a wiper blade, and a loaner Mk 6.
Thats what I did in my Mk 5 today. The Mk 5 now drives just beautifully, no clunking at all, you can't even feel that moment when you ease off the brake at the lights and it finds 1st. Tee-riffic!

Finally got around to getting some pics of it reshod...
Rims are R36 Omanyt's, 18x8 et44 (IIRC) with new 225/40 R18 rubber. Rims have been painted (not powder coated) as they had some gutter rash and shot tyres when I bought them.
