I repaired it with Rapid Fix had to take off the trim and repair it from the back still noticeable but VW wanted $268 for a new piece I think I can live with the repair ?

Same happened in the wife's Golf. Though couldn't put it down to a weather event, I presumed the fact that I'd taken it in and out a dozen times over the years had caused its demise.

    I bought a replacement from a wrecker for $100.

Similar break in the trim of the Pirelli dash as well, also have had it apart fitting sat-nav. I found ---> THIS <---- on fleabay, think I might just grab one as no way am paying VW's stealership price...

The new part arrived 15 days from china which I thought was pretty good ,came in a VW box with exactly same part numbers on both and it fitted like a glove very happy ,I was going to Penrith so I dropped into the Vw spare parts with the box to show them just how over priced the Vw spare parts were and he agreed but said VW Australia dictate the price here any he could not believe that it cost one fifth of the Australian price .

                Agree Ian,

I ordered one and it arrived a little under 2 weeks later. In box sealed with VW Tape and part numbering on the box. I installed it this morning, first few days off the last week or so. It fit's and looks identical to the one it replaced. side by side comparison I could not tell the difference.

                Certainly $'s well spent

Why didn't I bother looking online before getting mine from the wrecker? I buy everything online...
