      Hey Guys,

      what about the other day I was taking a friend to the airport and you carn't open the hatch to let them get their bags out.
      You have to turn the engine off to open the hatch.

      Am I missing something???

          Clearly the owners manual that is in the glovebox

          Press the unlock button on the drivers door (twice if you have multi stage locking enabled).

            I assume you knew this before you purchased the car? I swore I'd never buy a FWD car but the GTI changed that as it performs so well.

            2. Centre vents are too high and not enough air
            Can you see over the steering wheel? If so how can they be too high? Have you turned off the diffuser on the top to direct the air to those vents? The diffuser is pretty pointless generally so just leave it turned off.

            3. No factory bluetooth phone kit uses steering wheel control
            The Skoda and Nokia kits use steering wheel controls for voice, MFD or RNS 310, RNS 510, RCD 510 etc operation. The phone button is designed for use with the phone cradle that isn't available in Australia.

              Mav,

              1. Don't like front wheel axle tramps;
              2. Don't like air directed at my face, so my vents are aimed downwards completely and I don't the volumn of air is quite enough;
              3. That's my point, can't get a VW original one fitted by the VW dealer.

                A TAI helps with this.

                Use the diffuser on top? You don't have to have the air pointed at your face and every car has that 'problem'. The airflow is sometimes too low but you can either adjust the temp or adjust the fan manually.

                3. That's my point, can't get a VW original one fitted by the VW dealer.
                The phone button is designed for the older car cradles that are rarely used now, bluetooth kits they sell let you use other buttons so I don't understand why it's an annoyance to have a button not used when there are plenty of others that have a function??

                  The number of rattles that have appeared after 3 years - one from the door, one from behind the glovebox and one more from an undetermined place. You are expected to pay a premium for these cars on the basis that they are good quality yet I've owned about 6 Jap cars and none of them ever had a rattle.

                  The DSG - just another dopey auto IMO.

                  The fact that the market is now saturated with them - makes it hard to sell for a reasonable price. The devaluation isn't bad until you factor in the on road costs which are more than just about any other manufacturer.

                  I should probably add that despite those things the GTI is still the best car I've ever owned.
                  As for all the little gripes, such as the sunglasses holder, I'd say they are so minor they are not worth mentioning - own a Nissan S15 or a Pulsar GTiR for a while and I'll tell you about annoying gripes...

                    The fact that all Subaru WRX driver think you want to race.

                    My wife loves it more than me, my wife always wanting to drive, my wife complaining when I adjust the rear vision mirror even thought I'm a foot taller than her.

                    "Voluntary tax" when pulled over by the police.

                    Getting asked by the cops "do you have any idea how fast you were going?"

                    Me replying "I have a fair idea, see that little dial beneath the steering wheel, well you know the Germans, it would be pretty accurate!"

                    Watching the cops face!

                      Easy answer. FWD and all that it brings... It would otherwise be a giant killer.

                      Monster HP and FWD makes it really hard until the tyres hook up.

                        There are 2 things that really annoying for me. First sunglasses holder. Second is not having HID light on my FSi Jetta or most of the GTIs I see on the road don't have HID lights either. Even brand new TSI Jetta Highline doesn't come with HID. $25K worth Corolla comes with HID.

                          I hate that when ever i sit in the it with coins in my pocket, they all go flying out, and straight underneath the drivers seat.. never to be seen again. I probly have enough under there for my next mod!

                            I hate that cup holders are too shallow to hold anything, lack of ashtray and lighter, and no storage compartments.

                              That's a good feature when you buy a used one with around twenty bucks in coins under the seat rails
