the indicators? do u mean the stalk being on the opposite side to a car designed for rhd? I cant think of a euro car that has gone to that trouble to change that. Ditto with the handbrake

True, true. Doesn't make it right, though. And the Japanese can manage it... here's a German Prado - note the lights on the left hand stalk:

I would have to say the blind spot in the 3 door, the column for the doors is right where you shoulder check . Absolutely ridiculous, just as well the driver side mirror is that convex shape so you can see just about everything in it.

+1 to no mp3 (in 2007 model and before what the!!!)
+1 to the dsg staying in 3rd sometimes (i just hit the up paddle shift on the wheel though and that seems to sort it out)

Apart from that I absolutely love the car to bits.

You know that you can pull the sunvisor out after you've swung it to the driver's/passenger's window so it covers the whole window and removes that gap? Just pull backwards (towards the B-pillar) once it's swung around. Give it a go

Mine's a 2007 GT and it definitely doesn't do that. But I wish it did.

I have, in fact, pulled the whole damn thing off the mounting, thinking it surely must slide Another feature killed by the razor gang?

Bugger, more cost cutting...though that's weird as mine's an 08, not an 07. And I've seen pics of the US guys being able to pull theirs out on earlier 06s/05s. Surely it's not a GTI thing!

                  And I although I don't own a mk5 Gti I still have a gripe about them.
Most mk5 Gti drivers have no idea what my car is when I pull up along side it's almost sacrilegious
mate...ill second that.....but dont worry..they will get rid of it in a couple of years when the next "IT" car comes along

I'd advise not to generalise, please. Some of us actually enjoy our cars, and regard them as something special. Maybe they don't have the limited status of the older GTIs but I think we enjoy them just as much. Maybe some of us who like a bit of VW history choose not to drive older cars. I intend to keep mine until it drops dead or is written off. We aren't all fashion plates, y'know.

                      Geez.

I don't have a GTI (a TDI) but some people have commented on the DSG shift being the wrong way round and the indicators.

For me, I actually prefer the indicators on the left. I think it actually makes a helluva lot of sense and prefer it to on the right.

For the DSG shift, it's not really even an issue!

While my car is only four days old for me and I'm yet to encounter any issues, I love every bit of it so far.

Aahhhh, I looked into this the other day, and yes, I remember changing it already, and then I remembered that I couldn't get the auto volume low enough for this old grandpa!

It's probably our keyring setup, but the damn keys keep hitting my knee when I drive. It's not like I'm tall either!

And one more thing, I'd like the driver's seat to go lower. That's probably a characteristic of the MINI I am used to, as you can get yourself quite low in those.
