What really annoys you about your gti?

ROFLMAO - I'm not sure what's funnier. The fact it costs more than an i pod or the fact some one paid more than an i pod for it.

Lack of MP3 player - ditto
Auto wipers - ditto
Colour coding - ditto
Handbrake in wrong position - too far over and after drink holders
Left hand signals, right hand wipers
Lack of decent visual clues on stalks as to which way is what
Small speedo makes speeds hard to see (used to it though) and 30 + 50 marked (not really important speeds here in Aus)
Lack of decent Petrol cap - ditto
Poor rubber seals and rain gutters - ditto
Auxiliary connector ridiculous cost - ditto
MFD - don't have those choices
Center Armrest - not big enough to fit CDs
No TIM reports (traffic updates)
Being completely forgotten by VW - except for marketing surveys
Creaks and noises from doors, being ignored by dealers
Massive Speedo issues - what speed am I going *shrugs*
Warm air coming through the vents when a/c is off
A/C is either "on" or "off", some cars have economy A/C choices
A/C can't belt out the cold air, but it is consistent
DSG lag when first starting
paying lots for leather seats and not having them electric - but they are heated?

It sounds bad, I know... but it really is a good car that brings a smile to my face.

The A/C on or off and econ mode are the same thing - the econ button turns the a/c compressor off.

Thats gold stuff ozgriff. If I were looking at getting a gti your list would have just convinced me not to!

The non painted bumper and skirts I think actually look good and make the car unique as a gti. I like the car both ways painted bottom or unpainted factory. One more thing mentioned was the speedo. Cant understand why the mfd wont display your current speed but only your average speed. Who cares about average??

mines an 08 so it plays MP3's and has the MFD - I also got the iPod connector free!!!

My gti (05 door man '0 is good except for the sterio noise when car is turned on (if sterio was on prior), the water going in to the boot when opended thing and the wipers not doing there job if the windscreen is already wet. Other than that no other probs.

Kinda what I mean, but a mix of words. Econ mode is on or off, some cars have an economy a/c on, where the compressor is not being worked as hard. Can't name any off the top of my head though.

As for not buying one, it's a list of 'minor' inconveniences (that really should not exist with this type of car). The engine, gearbox and drive make up for the rest

+1 on the leather seats.
We pay so much for the heated leather seats they should be electric adjustment as well.!!!!

+1 on the indicators on left stalk issue, not that it bothers me but;
I cant believe that with all the stupid things in the Australian Design Rules like size of the recess in the rear bumper bar for our number plates yet something important like which side the indicators is on doesnt matter.
The ADR's are a joke.

I had electric seats on my last car and MUCH prefer the setup in our Veedubs. I think the seat adjustment is just about perfect. Electric seats are overrated and just another costly thing to repair down the track IMO.

Agree that no sunglasses fit in the sunglass holder. Think may be more for spectacle sunnies that fold flatter.

Agree that water ingress is abit of an issue when opening up the hatch boot when its a little wet/rainy outside. Doesn't happen often enough to give me the ****s though.

Last and minor gripe would be the door trim rattling from the mid-bass drivers in the passenger doors when music is played at decent volumes. Its not *too* bad but enough to give me the ****s. Am thinking of Dynamatting both front doors to see if that makes a difference - which am pretty sure it will.

Anyone placed Dynamat in their doors?

These really are awesome cars. Had to be extremely picky to find these issues. My last car had a list 100 lines long! That included the lemon they bought back from me and the (half) lemon they replaced it with.

Actually one last thing is the convex drivers side mirror. I am used to the mirror now but wish VW had have spent the extra dosh on getting the mirrors the right way around for imported RHD vehicles.

they did actually swap it... if you look on any german spare parts or german ebay you can buy their left mirrors which are the inverse of our right mirrors.

oh come on people!! If i had a list that long for my car, i'd have never bought it! I can't believe that things like fuel doors/caps and armrests get so much attention!!
You should all buy R32s!
