Probably didn't even register with them. Sounds like they has sized you up already and had decided no!

Sorry if you mentioned it before, what were you looking at buying? If it was something high end you should jump onto the phone to dealer princpal to say this is how I was treated, this is what I bought, and you could have had a slice of that.

As a business owner, nothing would piss me off more than to hear that.

Heh, after we ordered our Jetta from Austral, the guy from Hwy rang me and asked if we still wanted to buy. I told him we had bought elsewhere, and he seemed surprised that we had actually bought a vehicle It was as if he thought we were not serious or something.

DionM, I had the same experience in Sydney. Denlo Parramatta called me up a few days after I had placed my order with Five Dock and expressed surprise when they heard I had bought elsewhere. My experience at Denlo has been less than average and I would not be recommending anyone purchasing from there.

I have worked in sales before and have an appreciation for the effort some people put into making a sale...(I don't like tyre kickers)...but sometimes, people are early in their buying decision and should be hand held till the end. I am a sucker and will buy from a salesman who understands my needs and makes me feel like number one. If a salesman cannot do this they should be fired. IMO of course

did they ask you how much you paid for your car after you have told them you bought else where?

i had similar experience when i bought my Jazz a few years ago. the first dealer i went to was shocking. i had a trade in and they wouldn't go lower than 11k change over. i then went to another dealer and got 9k change over with immediate delivery. the next day when the 1st dealer called, i told them i bought else where. the idiot sales asked me why..........?!?! lol

I bought a Jetta TDI - it's probably not high end as far as the dealer is concerned but it certainly is for me!

I honestly couldn't be bothered talking to them. I know I've convinced at least one person to buy a new dub elsewhere. When I reach 10, I'll reckon we're square

in relation to this whole thread...what it comes down to, is that getting served by a good salesperson that matches your personality is a numbers game. a little like the lottery.

in any given dealership, say there are 10 salespeople. guaranteed that 1 or 2 of them are top blokes that really know their product - typically down to earth and someone you could have a beer with. the other 8 or 9 unfortunately fall into the category of the typical "dodgy" salesperson.

best part with this forum is it helps identify who the top blokes are and who to buy from.

at the end of the day, any bad experience (in the purchase process or life in general) is forgotten when you jump into your gti and take it for a spin!

A Jetta TDI is certainly no Hyundai Excel! They would be making more margin on that than a Trendline! You have to treat everyone the same otherwise they'll be another 10 people who won't buy from you!

I really think we need a name and shame thread for dealers and the sales people. this will force the dealers to get their act together because if they get bad reviews then it will reflect in their business going down. I would love to have a crack at redeveloping the VW quality system (or lack of).

                            hi all,

i just got an update on delivery for my r32... the dealer informs me that, because i optioned the new touch screen navi, i should expect the car to hit the docks in the second week of may.

hmm, not quite the answer i wanted... i was also informed that if i was happy to lose the touch screen navi (for a standard navi), i would be able to have the r32 much much sooner. this is quite a pickle, but i suppose it is best to wait and get what i really want.

It's not much of a wait really and in the end you'll be glad that you got what you really wanted. Even though you could be driving sooner and enjoying the fabulous sound!

When I ordered mine I enquired about getting it in Tornado Red. I was told that I could probably do a special order but it would be at least 6 months wait. I liked the DBP also so I went with that. Besides, the brake calipers are also blue!

Well hopefully I am going to be one of the next in Brisbane to get my R32. According to the dealer I should get it mid Feb but the tracking site says it arrived on the docks in Brsibane last Saturday. Anyone have any experience with how long it typically takes from there?
