Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

    hehe well
After driving around for 4000kms with a bone stock car. Ive come to the point where I cant resist any longer!

Santa came late last week and dropped off some bits and pieces for me. Nothing tooo flash. Just getting started on making my GTI just a little unique to me.

    R32 tail lights

Aaaaand some inpro smoked indicators in the mirrors. I also got some slightly smoked headlight covers. Theyre really not as dark as they look in the pic but undecided if ill use them or not. Will wait to see how they effect the lights at night time. I also got some clear headlight covers so will decide which to use in the future.
I figured id get them just to save the plastic on the front of the lens getting all scratched up on my xenons.

still too come. But i just havent had time. Is the dark F$#% Off Tint. Colour coding of the black trims and a slight lowering. Im thinking around 35mm drop like Tims brothers car had at DOVW. Longer term im still on the hunt for some sexy 19" rims.

Its hard isn't it. I know when my brother was looking for wheels he went through the same dilema's. The obvious choice was BBS CH's but felt the were almost done to death. He also hated the asian wheels (no offence to those who have them).

He then saw a GTI in the states which had the Porsche wheels on them and thought why not. He got a good deal through a family friend and liked the fact that it would be a long time before he saw another car with the same geniune wheels

yeah ive never been a fan of CHs.

Ive got jap rims on my mk3 which i fell in love with as soon as i saw them.
But i dont think something like that would do the mk5 justice. It needs something chunky or intricate. Like the phateon helios or a BBS LM.

I think id like something with a bit of a lip on them though

welllll. Ive decided to bin the smoked headlight protectors.
I reckon they did look cool and surprisingly at night i ran with one on and one off and couldnt really tell the difference in the headlight output. but they just attract a lil too much attention hehe.

the blacked out look on the actual backing of the Xenons adds a nice element of depth.

i have not been a fan of protector this, and guard that - just use it and sell it when you are done - it never really affects the trade in value...

Colour coding for the win though Tim....

the sticker on the rear window is already gone.
I wanna get some euro plates for her. I wanted V MK 005 to match the V VR 006 on my other car. But its already taken. So been having trouble thinking of one.
I already have the euro plate surround for it and everything.

and yeah the colour coding will get done sooooonish. Need to get the VR6 back on the road first though so ill have a car whilst its being done. I wanna get it done like minigolfs one. Cept im thinking of gloss blacking the bits he left unpainted. I think it will look nice matching the other blacked out bits on the car instead of being greyish
