I had a quick look at a few GT's (1.4tsi) when i was looking for my GTI and I think the interior alone in the GTI is worth the extra money. The GT's interior is basically just a comfortline golf interior with a different patterned seat. I would agree with the comment about the displacement being too small as well, true after a tune it delivers a decent output i just worry about the longevity of such a small engine and the extra components a twin charger set up has.
If i can get my 06 black GTI manual for 22.5k almost 8 months ago then I think you shouldnt have an issue finding one now..

The GT is setup for long distance cruising. Even w/o a tune, it out does a lot other cars on the road. I've even given a GTI a run for it's money.
I get up to 850kms per tank on long distance driving and about 650kms in urban driving. It was also a lot cheaper than a GTI with the same kms on the clock.

I think the GT's interior is not as good as the GT Sport which is essentially the same as the GTI. At least my TDI GT Sport seems to be the same as a mates GTI but he has leather seats, sat nav, sunroof etc but they are options.

When I was looking, used GT's were generally alot more expensive then Mkv GTI's it might have something to do with the GT being slightly newer.
Freeway driving in a GTI you should be able to get 700 and city around 550.. Which is still quiet good for a sub 7 car.

really? so the GT Sport has the same flat bottom sports steering wheel & buck like seats?

Dude, the GT and GT Sport have the same interior. And they are both different from the GTI.
The only difference between the GT and GT Sport is that the GT Sport has Hill Assist, darkened headlights (of the GTI), different badging and a fabric battery cover (cost cutting). Otherwise, the cars are identical.

My GT Sport doesnt have a flat bottom steering wheel, no. It does have bucket like seats. As I said my mates car had leather seats so I cant really compare them.

It was only a suggestion, see the words "I think". I have never sat in a GT so I dont know but I thought it read that somewhere.
So the difference between a GTI and GT/GT Sport is a flat bottomed steering wheel and possibly different seats? Not a huge difference IMO.

The GTI has these over the GT/GTSport - it has a 2L turbo engine, alarm system, different front seats, flat bottomed steering wheel, two more speakers, a 250W amplifier, different body kit with side skirts, stiffer suspension, larger rear brakes....that is all I can think of at the moment.

Personally I found it made a huge difference, The non leather seats in the GTI (tartan) are very buckety and supportive, I get comments about them all the time. The steering wheel is just awesome as well, it looks the biz but feels even better in your hand. Having said that, Im sure a leather version of a GTI vs a leather GT would close the gap considerably.

I picked it up with 104k on it. a DSG would've been nice, but I saw it as too much of a risk on a 4yr old car with no factory warranty left. Plus the additional maintenance costs.
I can supply a leather multifunction wheel down the track, if you need it, but I think you'll get one on the car anyway.
Bizi's Jetta TDI: Blue Graphite w. factory leather & tint, plus + Enkei Racing NT03+M + Yokohama S Drive 18s, Koni FSD, Neuspeed coils, GTI RSB + brakes, InPro mirrors, VW navi, Modshack. Come for a drive through the twisties on Saturdaze.

Well I was talking about interior haha. Does a standard GTI have 12 speakers and a factory amp? Because my GT Sport has 3 way components up front and 2 way components down back.

The GT has 8 speakers while the GTI has 10 of them. If you check your GT Sport's front doors, the speaker grill in the middle of the door is empty.
