Oh true he is the "service advisor". yeah to vw/dealers credit most of the dramas i have had with the car get sorted out straight away through warranty so thats good.

Yeah the Weitecs arent bad and they are indeed made by KW, they are pretty much KW V1's using cheaper galvanised steel materials as opposed to stainless steel. Sourced and installed by Dragan @ Inmotive

        • Yeah Nick's a good guy. Mark's a bit keen but good nonetheless.

Well I would be keen to see the ride height on your car sometime. Don't see you round the traps (the hills)

          • Brand new air-conditioner is blowing hot air. I wonder what the record is for the life of a VW air-conditioner, mines only been in the car 1 month.

I did (see my post 3 before yours) but mine is a TSI. VW must have got a batch of short harnesses...

              • I had a really annoying squeak in my 08 R32 towards the rear when ever going over any small bumps on the road....found it was the rear seats making the noise where it locks in from folding down....open and slammed them shut quite hard, nothing since

                • Well nothing serious (apart from the original crackly radio issue which i'm over now that i've got my Aux input ..

I've got auto locking activated. But when I go over the speed to lock, it'll lock then unlock straight away.. Then when I pull up at say an intersection or something and drive away, it'll lock as per usual. This can keep happening over and over until I open and close the door where it'll usually sort out the issue.

Another problem is when I turn the car off but leave the key in the ignition, my radio will turn off (the opposite of what it's supposed to do). Then about 15 mins later it'll come on!! Scared the crap outta me the first time as I was home alone and didn't remember inviting Lily Allen over..

                  • Anyone walked down to their car and found all the windows open but the car locked?

Key hasn't been anywhere near it to activate the keyfob window roll down thingy it can do (as in, through multiple layers of concrete).

                    Very odd indeed.

Could be a short in the key that sets the roll down on, but then the doors relock themselves once no one opens them?

                      • my car threw a steering angle sensor code and it came up with a ram module error?? wtf? anyone had this issue?

tried clearing it using vcds and it didnt go away, so im guessing it could be something serious.

                        • Wheel bearing replaced (it was making a clunk sound) and new rear shock absorbers needed (front ones recently replaced) 2006 GTi with 70k on the clock. Does that sound a little early for shock absorbers to fail?

                          • I found that the engine of my 2005 1.9TDI was getting sluggish to start when the engine was hot.
If it was left to cool down about 2 hours then it would start basically normal.
At 90000Km the starter motor needed replacing, as the car was over 3 years old - no warranty- had discussions we dealer & VW Aust & the final cost was I had to cover 25% of the cost .About $420
Since then I have heard that a neighbor of a work mate has the same fault.
Any others around having the same issue

I went out for a quick drive around this afternoon and have noticed this tractor like noise coming from engine bay area. It lasted about 10 seconds before it disappeared and it was consistent regardless of whether the aircon was on - it was always there as I was slowing down and slowly accelerating, and even at stand still at the lights. The noise was more prominent from inside the car and could not first identify it when I tried to hear it from outside the car. The car felt like it lost a bit of power too. Standing in front of the engine bay with the engine running, the noise seemed to be coming from left hand side of the engine where I saw a black belt. Does anyone have any idea what this noise might be? The car has had a 45k service only recently. I had this very similar noise in my old car before where the oil and filter changes were well over due and the noise was gone after servicing.

During a the scheduled 30,000 km's service I was advised that they had found some oil leaks on side of the engine. Was advised it was nit major and as I was going away on a trip that weekend should be ok to take it.

Took car back a week later for further inspection and was told that leak was from Turbo?? Turbo replaced under warranty. However after replacement I now has a whining sound at low rev's 1000-1500 rpm (i.e in traffic etc.)

Car goes back for more inspections and was told some alignments done, problem still remains. Car goes back again and a guy from VGA come out to inspect it.

I am told that the noise is within specifications, however if i wish they will replace the turbo again on the condition that if the noise is still there better or worse no more work will be done on it ..

I am now due back in about 10,000 kms for it's 60,000 km service. The noise is still there and I have some decisions to make :-/ Car also seems to have lost some of it's top end power.

I have had two rattles repaired one on the drivers door and one on the passenger front door.

I now have one coming from somewhere near the steering column, I suspect one of the air con vents ??

Also my DSG seems to have an issue whereby every now and again it makes a clunking sound on take off from a stand still.. almost like it misses the gear and then drops in again.
