Hi guys,

I have noticed something that baffles me a bit and not sure if this is normal. When the car is cold (starting in the morning or after work) my air conditioning takes about 5-10 minutes before it kicks in and starts actually blowing cold air. Once it's going it's completely fine and air is super cold. Does anyone know what this may be? My initial thoughts are that it's waiting for the engine to warm up first or something? My Dad has a 2010 Golf TDI, and he said he has had the same thing happen to him as well.

Had our Jetta in for some warranty concerns today before it runs out of manufactures warranty in a month.

The lag on take off had gotten noticeable wore over the last 3 months. DSG Mechatronic is being replaced.
Starter motor would squeal every now and then on start up. Faulty being replaced.
And they also picked up an intermittent fault in the rear right central locking actuator. Being replaced.

The car is nearly 3yrs and only 47000kms and these are our first major problems, so we have had trouble free motoring until now. Thank goodness we have extended warranty.

Driving to the airport this evening and my 2008 golf gt tdi stopped with an engine malfunction light.
Lost power, and lost most steering. Managed to pull over in the left lane.

Funny thing is, i'm picking my brand new golf r tomorrow morning so wonder if the current car got jealous. No serious problems and had 60000km service in jan.

found out the injectors all failed. Supposedly a known faulty batch so replaced free of charge by VW. should have the car back on Mon or Tues.

I just got a 05 GTI, car is in such good condition! One owner, drives beautifully like a brand new car BUT my clutch is sticky.. like once I've changed gears the pedal doesn't bounce back to full extension straight away and sometimes i actually have to physically put my foot under the pedal to push it up.

Anyone know what it could be and how much its going to cost me?

2006 Jetta 2L turbo
-Climate control seemed to stop working. Essentially next to no air was flowing out of any vent on any mode after working fine for a couple of hours. Ambient temp around 28 deg. The fan was working - you could hear it increasing and decreasing first of all as it tried to cool the car down then later on stuffing around with it.
I pulled the pollen filter out and the fan was blowing properly... I guess there is some sort of solenoid or vaccuum operated thing to switch the airflow between the different modes which was stuck in a closed position which sits after the pollen filter.
After turning the car off for lunch then starting it again 1 hr later, it was fine.
Same thing happened after 2 hrs driving a couple of days later.

Has anyone experienced anything like this.... and more to the point, have any ideas how to fix it?

mkv gti - when aircon is ON (not seemingly econ) there is the occasional muffled " tap tap tap tap tap tap tap" in the dash area...i THINK it arises when the aircon first goes on (climate control ?!)

Any ideas ?

I have no problems with mine any more, not that I had many at all
Traded it in for new VE Commodore Equipe..Sad a little but happy with new car.

I believe this is the fan shifting between outlets - the little switch on the vent on top of the dashboard is to the right - does it go away when on the left?

This is the motor inside the vent very common problem. You need to get it replaced or it will always make the noise.

thanks for that - a couple of google searches give me the same issue- its a pita to fix apparently.
This issue isnt constant - seems to stop when AC is off (in economy mode) or induction is on etc. Its a sticking part in the motor ?! Once it drives my gf mad i will replace it.

my golf gt tdi wouldn't start this morning.
not sure if its the battery as it only replaced <12 months ago.

as soon as you turn the ignition on to the glow plug stage you hear this really fast click click click clicking noise and nothing rolls over when you try and start it all the way...battery or something else??

In two weeks I will have owned my Jetta TDI for five years (82,000 km). The first 4.5+ years were good but the past couple of months have been terrible.

The first problem was leaky seals in the fuel pump, then came the solenoid for the fuel filler door which was closely followed by the driver's door actuator. Finally, the roof lining started pulling away from the overhead console and the passenger side A pillar.

The lining, in particular, was really disappointing. I thought that only happened to old Hyundais.


In fact, a new Hyundai is starting to look pretty appealing at this stage.

The driver's seat lumbar support no longer winds out to provide adequate lower back support.
This was an important feature at purchase for this older Dubber
We asked about it at the 75,000 service and it is being replaced under warranty, so all good.
