      • I am in Melbourne and wanting to extend my factory warranty on my '09 MKV GTI.
My dealer offered me another type of warranty which isnt a VW warranty.
What are people paying and from peoples experiences, which is the best dealer to buy it from??

I am looking at selling the GTI next year for an upgrade and was thinking that the extended warranty would look good to a potential buyer, or cant it be carried across to the new owner?

            • I have the Factory extended warranty and I haven't had my car serviced at a dealership in years.

As long as it's an MTA/licenced mechanic, you can take it anywhere.

I had an injector failure after original factory warranty and it'd been at other mechanics a number of times.

I discussed this with my (excellent) independent mechanic, and he was doubtful that he could do the work without voiding my warranty.

Elsewhere in this thread it's been stated that I can use a suitably equipped and qualified independent mechanic without risking my warranty. What's the current considered position with regard to this matter?

              • I got my 3 year extended warranty thru Burwin VW in FTG.
Its not Alliance but another one they use that from there expereince is comparable and easy to use.

If it's not the Allianz one it won't be the factory backed extended warranty which is accepted at all Volkswagen dealers. What are the differences between the Volkswagen backed warranty and yours?

                  • I knew you would come in.

Its the same, done thru the dealer, on the service record, even goes to 100k extra.
They have to go thru the same approval routine. They have found it easier to get claims approved too.
This is from the service management not a salesman.

                    • Have anyone bought the VW Used Vehicle Extended Warranty? I think my extended warranty is about to run out on the km's basis so I'll need further coverage even if it's capped to $2k a claim.

                        • For those of you based in Mebourne, looking for a VW (Allianz) new car ext warranty, I would also recommend Eric from Burwin VW (Ferntree Gully). He gave me a good price, in line with what people here seem to be getting from Chatswood dealers.

Above email address doesn't seem to work. Anyone have an updated contact? Or new contact for that matter. Trying to get this sorted in the next couple of week.

More than likely I'm stuffing it up. BTW just got a quote from Mario at Southern for $1992.30. Has it gone up that much in the last couple of months for a 2008 GTI DSG? Anyone got a better quote?

That's obviously not how I typed the addresses. The first was lower case "d's". Second was upper case "D's" and lastly I included "addy:" to the upper case.
