I think he is more talking about other things going wrong that may no longer be covered under warranty due to mods.... (even though they may not be related to the modifications done)

Maybe I should have added 'reliably' for street use. I can't compare a V10 racing engine with a narrow powerband running at 12,000rpm on race fuel designed for short durations with a rebuild or replacement between races to a tweaked 'economy' based passenger car engine.

I guess my issue or curiosity is more the ignition/combustion process - I'm wondering how it can run such high boost pressure and high compression on pump fuel without pinging or having woefully retarded timing. I'm not sure if the variable valve timing is also tweaked (did someone say Vtec, yo!) and whether this would play a role

I guess more details are to follow so I'll sit patiently and wait for more updates.

Or this thread will slowly disappear into oblivion as it is discovered that it is 225HP, rather than kW.

Still damn good power for a motorcycle.

Haha, I was talking to another member who recently sold his motorcycle, a 1400cc ZX14 that was making 185hp and was about to tune it to make 200hp prior to selling. Apparantly it was too scary!

Yeah, I'm sure you TSI boys would be pretty pleased with nearly 170kW!

I remain in the "somewhat sceptical" camp (but would be pleased to be proven wrong). At max power the supercharger on the 1.4 TSI is not doing anything, the turbocharger is doing all the work.

The equivalent power from the 2.0 TFSI engine would be 321Kw, not impossible, but pretty extreme from a car still being driven on the road (and hopefully with some reliability).

Of course if it is a special "dyno queen" engine built purely to produce a big power figure but not caring about whether it is practical to drive then 225Kw is quite possible (but I wouldn't expect it to last too long producing that sort of power, even with it's special high strength grey cast iron block ).

guys pls hang in there. weekend turnd out to be a fizzer...

very interesting what you are all saying and to the sceptics i DID hear kW not hp. i'm just quoting what i heard, my mate could have it wrong but until i speak with him again i cant confirm.

i didnt/ dont really believe getting an extra 100kW outta the 1.4 would be a sustainable figure (for engine longevity) or achievealbe without, as polar has said, upping the size of the blower...

however, i'm just as keen to find out more of the details so, again, pls hang tight

Off topic, but just so people don't get confused.

Dry fogger system = single nitrous jet. Fuel is controlled by the ECU.

Wet fogger system = fuel + nitrous jets. Fuel is controlled by the user. If it's too lean, up the jet on the fuel.

You can run 14:1 off the nitrous, then 10:1 on it, it's all good.

                        Anyways, back on topic.

Not doubting what you heard, but skeptical about what you were told.

^ fair enuf. i found it hard to believe myself... hence the OP.

though in saying all this, gtimk5 seemd to know something of the said mods and power gains so i may be on to something after all... (que in twighlight zone music)

Hey PaulOH. Na, none at this stage. The fella has been on his honeymoon so i haven't had the chance to catch up.

i'll be having a chit chat with him ASAP.
