      Waste of money = FAIL
      Less light = FAIL
      Dazzle oncoming drivers = FAIL
Look like a wannabe ricer = EPIC FAIL

you didnt say "just on a golf"
"Mate" I didn't say that, how hard is to see who did write that when it was only a few posts up!

And if you would bother to read further back I said that if you really want to fit xenons to at least fit projector housings to prevent blinding other road users.

Yup your right.... apologies, I read the post directly after mine and assumed it was from 'pharkus'. so I apologise for my mistake.

My first reply to pharkus, was at his angle of 'retrofits in general' being, as he put it, a fail'; regardless of the projector headlight; there are still other points made in HIS post that I dont think are applicable.

Pharkus's comments were pretty much spot on. The vast majority of xenon installs are into reflector housings given plenty of glare to oncoming traffic and deliver less light to the road where you need it.

The vast majority of installs are the cheap $100 "chung foo" specials which have poor build quality, there is a reason why buying a quality xenon setup would cost you over $1000 and that's because you get properly engineered parts with quality globes and decent igniter's.

Using the 6000K and upwards globes gives you less light then halogen, this is a fact and take a look at ebay, they promote 6,8,10 and even 12K globes. The OP here used 12K globes (and tried to claim that Volve fit 8K globes standard which is BS). Again less light to the road where you need it, doesn't matter if you have projector or reflector light housings.

OK - Like I said I am just going on personal experience 'in a projector housing' . I have tried both the standard lights that came with my vehicle and the HID replacements..like I said in my first post... TO ME there is clearly more light on the road (and as said, tested to make sure it was not irritable to other drivers). I know in my car the standard lights were quite poor, so maybe thats why there was significant upside in doing it... Numerous people made the same change on the same vehicle as mine, and no one has since reverted back. I cant imagine the standard Golf having poor lights..so in this example its probably less relevent.

I am sure there are some shocking kits out there, and Yes I have been blinded by people with HID's...

By no means was mine a top quality kit (well it cant be as I think i paid 250-300 in a group purchase) if build quality is bad - I am yet to see it.

so yes its projector light - so maybe pharkus was just talking about for the golf.....
In a projector housing, in an older car, it has not been a waste of money, doesnt blind other drivers, doesnt give less light and doesnt look ...'wannabe ..... ricer'.

I think that all aspects of this topic have been explored really and the fact that Nick went to the trouble of posting a bit of info on something that he did to his car - probably was not expecting that this would be the result.

There are many opinions and positions on this topic, most have been stated and as such I don't think that there is much else to discuss.
