Nardi: regarding the R32 ecu tune yes there are others out there, but try doing a search on revo and youll find quite a few unsatisfied customers that wish they didnt get it as it's either slower than stock or only 1 or 2 kw better with much worse fuel consumption.

So quite often it's worth paying a bit more for a decent product than wasting 1/2 or 2/3 of the price on something cheaper.

There was a recent thread on golfmkv somewhere.

I'm a cheap mongrel but if APR halve their price I reckon I might just go it.

Am interested in what Guy comes back with. Certainly recent competition might result in a reflash war!

Can we stay on topic please so this thread is not locked up.

I dunno why people get so bent out of shape over this.

Cost wise, it's a bargain. Come on, 30-50kw more (depending on what car you have, mine was closer to 50kw), 2k is a bargain.

Sure on the surface it might look like you're not getting much, but a huge amount of time and money is spent on the R&D that goes into these things.

And you show me ANY other mod you can put on for $2k that gets you 50kw (and the car is still fully 'streetable') and I'll be shocked.

I'd buy 10 of them (500kw for 20 grand? bargain) if only it worked that way!

And when it comes to which product? Well it's up to you. For me, APR wasn't the cheapest, but the dood who looks after it runs a professional workshop and is less than 2 ks from my house.

But yeah, this has all be said before!!

If you read what i wrote i'm not saying it's not a bargain. And I was also referring to the R32 tune.

I'd quickly pay $2k for 40kw more on any car.

I didn't realise the remap discussionwas such an emotive topic.

Guy - Thanks for your feed back with regards possible sale and look forward to hopefully doing business with you when the time comes.

                    Ahh sorry mate, missed that.....

Yeah I think it's the case for most normally aspirated cars. Tune's can't do much... I remember reading a huge document on the web somewhere about it....

Had something to do with power being an output of the amount of fuel/air being pushed into an engine. This percentage HAS to be a certain amount for any given air pressure, otherwise the car will run too rich. If you compress the input air, you can use more fuel.. That's why increasing boost gives more power.

The most a tune on a normally aspirated car can do, is slightly increase throttle response and a few other things..

At least that's what I read anyway....

US APR $599, at an appropriate exchange rate of 0.6 is AU$998.

Only thing is, there's approximatly 10,400kms of deep blue sea in the way.

I'm also watching this one carefully

                            ER closer to 0.7 now. 599/.07 = $856.

You'd still need to get APR Oz to agree to that price ...... and APR USA will not deal with you directly anyway.
