Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

Thanks Fella's - VW will have more cars in stock in January, we were just trying to get it done sooner!

        Thanks for the efforts!

Bring your toolkit to Perth mate. Tinto and I are hanging out for a way to tune our cars!

I hope to god the solution you come up with does not require the car physically or you provide an ECU mail in , mail back service.

In WA we have NO Revo Dealer, NO APR dealer (well i think there is one but they have no dyno and are just a euro car service place, no performance work), No Oettinger dealer. etc.

It is like we are living on the moon.

Can you please make it so that the software eliminates the slow throttle map and makes both maps the sport throttle map please.

It ****s me to tears when my car goes into limp throttle mode and I have to put it in Sport just to get moving.

+1, I thought it was a problem with my DSG. It feels like putting your foot in a bucket of porridge then the neck snaps back!

(ps, no porridge was harmed in the typing of this post)

The car has 2 throttle maps for the drive by wire system.

When you drive slowly long enough it switches to a slow map where 50% pedal = 1/4 throttle roughly. WHICH IS BULL****!

                      When I press 50% I want bloody 50%!

When you engage sport or drive fast for a while it switches to a map where 50% = about 40% throttle.

Now that's interesting. I wonder if the TDI has a similar electronic nanny deal, as some days it feels rather lethargic, and I just put it down to heatsoak, ambient temp etc etc...

All mk5 golf's of any engine have this feature.

                          Even the manuals.

Test it out... .sometimes a half throttle press will deliver X rev rise and other times it will give far more.

Read this review of a product that amplifies the electronic throttle signal to remove these slow throttle map issues.

"OK. If I've been driving my stock Mercedes on the motorway or freeway a long
while, the ECU switches to the "quiet driver" curve. Of course, as the driver, I
have no indication of this. Now, if I want to pass, and I press the pedal down a bit,
say to the 70% point, what do I get? Because I'm on the "quiet" curve, I would get
40% power at 50% pedal, so I suppose I get maybe 60-70% power at 70% pedal
(we don't know because Mercedes doesn't tell us). But, if I have a Sprint Booster
installed, now what happens? The Sprint Booster multiplies the 70% pedal by 1.3
to 91%. I'm still on the quiet curve, but since there's no difference between curves
above 90% pedal travel (and that's what the ECU got from the Sprint Booster),
boom – I get 90+% power. "Feels" great."

The sprint booster specifically talks about Mercedes vehicles.
Im not 100% sure our VW vehicles have these 2 maps as spoken of.

Is there any other information anywhere talking about this.?

Sprintbooster make several different versions for all european cars including all VAG and Audi. I wouldn't post it if it did not apply to our cars.

YES WE DO HAVE TWO THROTTLE MAPS!

I dont think this is a good product to buy as APR , REVO etc already copy across the sport throttle map to the normal map to some extent.
