  • TDi Airco Pipe broken

    Hi All,

I have an issue with my son's TDi 2008 Jetta. I think an engine mount broke, causing the engine to move forward and the belt cut the main pressure line from the TX valve to condenser.

Mechanic said it could be fixed but better to get a new pipe.

I have been trying to source one but not having any luck.

Does anybody know if the pipe is the same across both the TDI 2008 Jettas and 2008 Golfs? I can't find a wrecker with a TDi but there are a few with Golfs.... I was told the pipe is different for every car, but I'm wondering if that is actually incorrect.

Would appreciate some assistance.... I'm SA based (PS yes I found some on eBay, but they won't ship to Au).

    Thanks

Without any photos to refererence and without any part numbers, your best bet is probably to look on ebay and see if you can find the right pipe because you can visually compare it to your car. Some of the ebay listings will give you the part number (eg 1K0820743AM) and then you can source one locally either via a VW dealer or get one from a wreckers. The Golf and Jetta are idential in many ways so as long as you find the correct part off another Golf or Jetta with the same 1.9TDI engine then it should fit.

If you do buy a 2nd hand pipe then best to replace o rings before you fit it to your car to reduce the chance of any leaks.

Refer some ebay examples below. Do any of these look correct?

      Hi there!

Thanks for getting back to me. Sorry I haven't responded earlier. The part I'm looking for is this from the car:

A mechanic originally quoted me $1200 just for the pipe.... then there is fitting (and shipping to SA).

I was going to get second hand - given the age of the car. Hence why I was asking if anybody knows if the pipe is the same on other models of VW (either Jetta/Golf). An eBay page I found (in the US) suggests it's he onthe same for both the TDI and petrol engine.

The ones you posted - a couple look similar. but then I was told it is the whole pipe required.... which runs from the front of the engine to the back of the engine.

      hopefully this helps?
