I've got a Big Turbo and its VF RSS

Got the VF RSS big turbo kit installed since late June 08 on my 06 3dr GTI with DSG.

List of upgrades from suspension to engine are:

KW Variant 3
H&R Front & Rear Sway Bars
Whiteline Anti-Lift Kit
VF Engineering Engine/Side/Transmission Mounts
GIAC Tuned
and of course the VF RSS kit with includes:

Garrett GT2871 Ball bearing turbo
ECU recalibration flash with GIAC 91/93 octane software.
High Pressure Fuel Pump
OEM high flow injectors
VF Short Ram Intake with K&N filter
Stage 2 VF Intercooler Set up which is a true FMIC and also incorporates the stock intercooler, very similar to the Forge one.

I drive my car on a daily basis to and from work and also do trackdays.
The kit is perfectly and its actually better to drive with this kit than with the stock turbo. The DSG handles the power fine.

Went to Sandown last friday for the first track night there ever. I let one of the instructors drive it and he was very impressed with how the car handled, the gearbox and the power.

I managed to hit 230km/h down the front straight. Overtook a VE R8 during that straight run. Linked the video to it.

I'll take more pics this sunday at the Grand Cruise organised by Golfmkv members. From what I'm aware off, I'm the first to have a big turbo kit installed on a DSG car in Australia or many car that is non dealer owned.

haven't had the chance to dyno it. Can't find a place that is set up to dyno a fwd car here in melb...I'm hoping the folks in sydney will organise a dyno day soon and I'll drive up for it.

I drive my car on a daily basis to an from work. Before I had the kit installed I hit 55k, now I've done over 65k. A lot of people were scared that the DSG can't handle the power, but it honestly does.

Because the turbo kicks in later than the stock one, you will notice when you drive in D, you wont get that sudden boost kicking in when you cruising. It can actually be more fuel efficient on hwy cruising.

Whats the rated KW & Torque of the kit?

Ours makes over 230kw's at the wheels (APR Stage 3).

The place that seems to do a lot the FWD GTI's in Melbourne is Peter Fitzgerald - you should know them, they do all of Volkspowers GTI's and have done a heap of their customers as well. Call Dean if you need help, because there are at least 15 dyno centre's down there that can dyno them. (Takes less than an hour).

Our car is a true daily driver as well, two kids seat's in the back & driven in the city traffic..

I think you are right about the first BT in a DSG car, we have a few running the APR ED30 kit on the DSG's - they put out in excess of 200kw's at the front wheels, so a nice little kit too. I have driven several stage 3 DSG cars OS - they go pretty well too!

I've got GIAC doing a few custom tunes for me for track days. This is what I like about the VF and GIAC combination, they happy to look at each car individually.

I know someone else in melb has ordered the kit after driving my car for a few minutes.

Next mods will be along the lines of:
Lightweight Rims and Slicks
S3 Cams
VF RSR Kit upgrade which is Forged Pistons and Rods
and than LSD after that.

Car handled fine without an LSD on the track and as a everyday car. Suspension work does heaps to the mkv chasis, and its a pretty good chasis to start off with.

Last I heard at Fitz's he couldn't dyno Dean's car as he couldn't get the strapping down properly. Got any other recommendations for places to dyno?

At Sandown, Wayne's BMW 135i with 230kw atw only managed to hit about 215km down the front straight. I managed 230km somehow and it was my first time there too. Have you tracked at Sandown, what was your top speed down the front straight.

Hahahaha, my car looks completely stock besides the Audi S style chrome mirrors and eyelids. Just using normal 98 BP fuel at the moment.

No ugly stickers and mixed body panels here.

We only have "pump" fuel files for our car (98 ron) as "race" fuel would puch our car well beyond 400hp & endanger our internals. Ours is a completely stock 06' model (engine never been out) so at this stage we don't need to go further.

On the Dyno, Dyno dynamics head office will even do it for you, and a list of the other places is here: (There are actually over 70 of them in VIC) just give them a call, its not hard!

Just have to find a place thats willing to do it on a Saturday. Busy man don't sell cars bits for a living, so can't just go and do dyno runs when I feel like it.

The VF RSS kit is rated for 385hp at the crank and 350tq on our 98 octane.

Mine is completely stock internals too, with no lsd, still stock rims and toyo proxies tyres.
