Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

I've owned the car for just over a year now. And have loved every second of it!!!! ... Other than finding out the guy before me treated it like rubbish
This has meant I've had to spend a fair bit on maintenance unfortunately, but it's all worth it for a car like this
She's done 155,000km ish now and is on the mend.

I figured since I now have a set of V3's in her that I better start up a build thread for the mods that will follow in due time. She also currently has an HPA Competition Haldex Controller fitted
Oh, and the flapper mod. Of Course! haha

I don't own a decent camera so nearly all the photos are from my iPhone, which kinda sucks but oh well. Just more reason for other people to take good photos of her! hahaha

A photo of when she was 100% stock courtesy of BWoodington Photography

Now that Coilovers have been fitted Just today in fact, and loving them so far! Unfortunately only a crappy iPhone pic though

    And some track time love

    Cheers guys,
    Jed

Nice Jed. Good to hear the old girl is getting treated correctly and getting some nice upgrades.

    Keep up the good work.

Haha thanks mate. Yeah she needs a bit of love to recover from the previous bloke

Do you have two or one set of adjustable rear control arms on your beast?

I might have missed it, but is it your daily drive?

Yeah they involved working a lot of 7 day weeks at the same time as full-time uni. But all worth it

And yes she is my daily drive, and she does a very good job of the commute and lugging of things around etc.
                    A very impressive all-rounder I must say!

May I suggest a vinyl wrap on you "b" pillars to get rid of the silver.
Will look cleaner and I suggest vinyl as it can be removed later without damaging your original paint.

                      Maybe black or carbon fibre???

Nah, I had a look at it. It looks nice from a far, but up close I think it would look terrible because the B Pillars are quite different depth wise compared to the glass

I agree, but I'd just mask it well and spray it with black plasti dip. Bam, done. Peel it off if you don't like it later.

Look at how well the 'pillarless' look works on the other golf in the photo...
