    Just want to be sure

Im ordering a set of BBS CH Blacks 18x8.5 for the Bora 4mo

Having say, 235/40 R18 all round will not affect the Haldex in any way?

From my understanding going through the thread only different fronts and rears cause an issue not same all round, is that right?

I didn't pay much creed to this topic before (how many r32s o/s have staggered setups etc) ??

I changed my 2 front tyres to brand new toto proxes4 225/40/18 after hitting a pothole. Not immediately, but started getting a loud diff whining noise on trail/decel...
Had organised another 2 tyres and bought them though took a while to get them on.
In the meantime I changed the diff oil at home and it was quieter for Nfew days but then back to the same noise.
Got the new rubber on the rear (so same all round) and went away immediately and haven't had problems since.

I was same 'size' tyre on each brand and haldex blue.

as far as I know the width of the tyre is irrelevant (as far as haldex is concerned). what you need to make sure is you keep the same rolling diameter.

For example, you can't go 225 wide to 235 wide unless you drop the profile proportionately from say 35 to 30.

You can use this calculatore to confirm rolling diamenters arent varied too much.

Tire Size Calculator - tire & wheel plus sizing

you can also use this to see how much your speedo will be affected.

As far as how much difference in rolling diameter the haldex can tolerate? you will need to research this some more

I read that it can tolerate a 4% difference from what is considered stock, so 225/45 R17

Also, the stud pattern for the 4mo is 5x100?

Just want to know if a rim thats
            18x7.5
With a stud pattern of 5x100 and offset of +45 will fit on a 4mo

            Thanks

                Hmm

It doesn't appear to come in that size

Looking good is subjective, but to the cool kids wheel width and offset are of the utmost importance. Objective is to not have that wheel sunken in the guards look. Fill out those bad boys..

Anyways since making this thread I took the plunge and got 235/40/18s on the rear and 225/40/18s on the front with no problems from the 4motion!

I see, I've seen those Rims on other Volks and I fancy them, but I'll have to do more research

The style of rim is cool I reckon but try to find some better fitment...

In the end you like what you like, but keep in mind in future you might get more picky with wheels so make the right choice now, unless you're a wheel whore like Dylan.

theyll look good. but not as good as something that fills out the arch a bit more...

true, each to there own as you said.
im not a cool kid, but if you see a car with wheels miles in the guards and vs a car with the same wheels that even sit 10mm future out you will notice the difference and i can bet you would pick the one with the better offset/width. but as above, offset and width is everything

They are not a bad looking wheel adzismad2, just info like this i wish i knew more about before buying my A8 reps. they were 18x8et45 (similar specs to what you are looking at) and they sat in heaps. not only this, later on when i ran them with 30-40mm or so drop, they hit the strut and required a 5mm spacer JUST to fit.
while yours will fit being .5" skinner, i think for the $ your probably going to spend you could go better

                          Thanks for the advice

I know what you mean now and I'm looking for another set I like with a ET35 - 38ish that are 8"

I had a look at where my wheels sit at the moment with the OEM+'s and I honestly dont want it to fit further in than it is now

                          Thank you

I got the smallest spacers I could to clear the brakes so got 5mm on the fronts [with 18x8.5 +30 225/40/18] and 10mm on the rears [with 18x10 +25 235/40/18]. I had the fronts guards rolled and the rear guards pulled out a bit, but still scrapes a bit when I have people in the back and there's a huge bump.

I found the 5mm H&R ones on the Parts for Sale section of this forum, and got the 10mm from Chris at TPR Engineering. I also saw a few floating around on ozaudi.com.

The problem with the 10mm size is that it's an awkward size as it comes with a hub-centric lip. My Bora's hub is longer than 10mm so the spacer wouldn't sit flush and had a couple of mm of space. I think for a Bora you need at least 12-15mm so it clears the hub, but I didn't want to go more than 10mm as the wheels stuck out heaps already so I just got the hub-centric lip machined off. This only leaves 1-2mm to centre the wheel so it's bloody tricky to get on...

Anyways check out the "NovusTech" spacers as they seem to be a good price.
