Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

    • I have to say, I love your approach to it. Cool style and the car looks hawt. Mk4 is probably the best R to have, so rare yet a sleeper.
      Photos are awesome too.

        • New Batteries, Two of them and an isolator so that when i want to start the engine, it cranks off of both batteries then switches back to run off one.
one will charge and then the other. The stereo will run off the secondary battery and when the engine is off, and the primary battery will kick in when the Amp Hours on the second battery goes low. Every few months ill switch the batteries over and they can live longer. They will be laying down in the boot in the "spare wheel accesories" area. I have aluminium mounts that lay flat and will allow me to still have the standard boot floor in place with the batteries underneath.

Mocal oil cooler, thermostatic sandwich plate, and a bunch of other hardware, including -8AN speedflow fittings. I have also ordered AN fittings in black for my water-air setup instead of ugly ass brass NPT fittings.

          Werd.

          • More stuff taking up room.

            Insulation

            Pistons

            Valves

            Rods... Strong ones

            Springs/Retainers

            264/260 TT Cams

Some custom acrylic guage plate modeled on 42DDs alumium one, matches my head unit perfectly.

Did some work yesterday with a mate. High flow 200 cell Cats on a USP testpipe.

Also got rid of the ****ty pancaked section in the rear of the exhaust under the rear lower passenger side control arm.

Recently picked up a Turbosmart Eboost2 Street, good to hold up to 40 PSI, not that i need that. Quality little product solenoid looks good comes with all the trimmings.

            Cheers

                • Sounds kinda raspy before the flap opens up, then its just booming.

The good kind of raspy though, like 993 porsche raspy.

Seems to have more up top, just a little, but who knows, this was really just prepping for the turbo.

Always keen on a cruise PMed

                  Still waiting on bits.

                          • Hey, firstly awesome, awesome build!

Just wondering if you can tell me what brand and colour paint you used on the front rims the 2nd time around? I'm thinking of going dark grey, maybe metallic when I get my new rims.

                            Thanks!

                            whoring!

Really? I thought White Night was cheap & ****ty paint? Well, I can't argue with the results! Keep it up!

My last car's wheels I cleaned up & painted with "satin black engine paint" or something, I figured that stuff is made to handle more than average paint. It worked like a charm.
