I think one of us (probably me) needs to drive across and compare our two builds. Bet you wont find much difference ha ha! Least im not the only one having ECU issues however yours sounds a bit more serious then mine. I'm surprised at UM causing you issues. They were good when i was dealing with them even shipped my ecu back for free.

I have a 2002 Bora 2.8 V6 4Motion at 156,000KM's. Just checking the books and noticed the Toothed Belt & Toothed Belt tensioner for camshaft is to be renewed at 90,000KM's. The service books show that this hasn't been done yet. Then I read online that this model has a chain not a belt. Do you know which is correct?
Cheers.

6K km later still running great.
There are other options than getting frustrated waiting for usless American companies to get their sh*t togther.

It's been a long time since any updates!
The car runs..............sort of (I'll get to that later)
I enlisted the help of Pete and the boys at Volkwerke to finally get things going. Can't recommend these guys enough!
This car is definitely cursed. We have had every problem imaginable.
Snapped radiators (x2), snapped headstuds, blown oil coolers, bent valves, melted sparkplugs and valves etc etc.
The current United Motorsports tune is absolute garbage, their customer service is atrocious.
Even with all these problems; holy **** this car is brutal. Taking that first drive after 2.5 years was definitely worth the wait. You couldn't wipe the smile off my face. Here is a short video of what it was like at around 17-20psi with the **** tune.
Here's the latest pic of the engine bay:
Unfortunately, at the moment it is off the road getting repaired. Yet to be confirmed, but pretty sure we have melted some valves, as a result of the **** tune! Here is what two of the sparkplug's looked like:
As soon as it is fixed, it will be going to E-Tuners in Sydney for a proper custom tune.
The car has also received R32 hubs, and some IDF tubular lower control arms.
Until next time!

Hey buddy, just gone through your whole thread and gotta say I love the work you have done to the car, that engine bay looks so nice!
I just have a question for you regarding your turbo setup, I'm currently looking replacing my stock Ko3 MK4 GTi set up with a CTS Kit but I'm still undecided on the turbo set up, I've narrowed it down to either a GT3582R or a T28RS. Just wondering if you could give me some input as you have done the turbo swap. Engine management would either be a GIAC or a custom haltech ecu tune and I'm also looking at achieving around the 280-300 at the wheels.

A GT3582 is rated to around 450kw at the wheels, which is way too big for your goals.
Have you ever driven a GTI with a K04 and other upgrades? I think that would be plenty for you.
