  • Yay, just got the car back from German Auto - dropped off at 8:30am, picked up at 1:00PM

Hasnt made a huge difference in height - i think 15-20mm drop, but apparently the car was pretty uneven to begin with so it's sitting much more level now. rear and front height seems to look much more even. Havent done any real hard cornering yet but it's certainly a lot firmer (though not uncomfortable) and body roll has greatly reduced, so I'm pretty happy
Will take it for a run through the hills tonight and post some pictures later!

          • I got my shocks on Tuesday

Installed by 1pm Wednesday by the good folk at German Auto.

            We went from this:

            To This:

Only about 15-20mm drop on the back and 5mm on the front, but the car was sagging badly as it was on worn shocks and all 4 corners were different heights! Had the top mounts done too as they were shagged. Now it's much more even and the rear looks level with the front....and the ride, wow! Getting up this hill through some twisty bits was a lot of fun. Felt much more stable and body roll is now very minor. Even braking seems more responsive and safer, Love it!

While I was up there I took a few more pics, it's just with a crappy 8MP camera and no editing...I'm far from a professional as you can see, but I like some of these shots:

Stupid cracked mirror surround.....a reminder to not let your girlfriend reverse your car out of tricky driveways

Now it's time to start to decide on some 18s I think

                • Thanks guys, I'm pretty happy with it!

Got them from the US for $709US delivered, which worked out to be not much more in AUD - think it showed up as $780AUD on my statement. 2 weeks for delivery.

Local suppliers I checked wanted around $1230 for the B8s, plus 6 weeks delivery.

Nice! Car looks better, amazing how much some slight adjustments can alter the look

Mate, some of the shots are good, all you needed to work on was your lighting. Being a designer I know and deal with several photographers and they all still say that 20yr old 35mm film cameras still produce the best images. There's a reason that digital SLRs have stayed at 10 megapixels, the quality of the image has very little to do with the pixel count, it all comes down to the quality and speed of the processor and chipset that processes and creates the image.

Trust me, good photographs are easy to get, it all comes down to lighting

                      • Thanks gavs, I was trying to get some good angles, but I always look at the pics after and think 'thats not straight or framed as well as it could be'. The camera is ok, but its just an Olympus Tough 795SW, so small sensors is the issue rather than the MP I guess. One day I'll get an EOS or something. I was hoping to ask the GF if she can tidy the pics up a bit, as she's a designer too.....do you think something can be done with them to make them look a bit more impressive?

                        • Yeah mate, too easy!

I'd start with adjusting the levels, then maybe working on brightening up the foreground of the shots (being the car) and work on the highlights. Then start to add in some brighter spots, maybe air-brush certain parts to make things "pop" a bit more, darken up the background and you could have a real nice image

                          • Cleaned steering wheel with Zaino Z9 cleaner. Looks and feels brand new.
Cleaned seats with Z9 and conditioned with Z10. This stuff is awesome!

Also managed somehow to get 3 hideously large stone chips on drivers door by a passing truck.

I've been considering doing my leather, might check it out! How long did it take to apply?

Not too long. Pretty easy application. For Z9 just spray on and buff off. For Z10 just wipe on (you only need a small amount) no need to buff off. Best thing...is the leather smell. Very similar to 303 (with plastics) in that in absorbs into the leather, restoring colour without leaving a glossy look.
