so this happened today... got my first VW and it just happens to be a GTI mk4
it needs front shock absorbers and a couple of interior bits(all the wood grain in the door handles is cracked and looks terrible and I am pretty sure the dog bone mount is stuffed and the struts for the hatch need regassing.
overall I am happy with it and can't wait to get started on fixing it and doing the usual stage 1 mods

Replaced the after run pump today after mine was only working when it felt like it and finally stopped altogether. If you're doing this job on a beetle, see if you can beg, borrow or steal a pair of cable operated pliers. It's almost impossible to get the hose clips off especially on the hose that points down near the alternator. She pumps like a champion now! I've replaced the clips with screw in hose clamps in case I ever need to do this job again!Greg

The car feels freakin awesome! Apart from a little boost issue it seems to be having

I'm not 100% sure but i assume it is 228mm, the VR6 clutch kit was the original plan but i found the Cupra clutch for sale on the forum and was in a bit of a rush to get it on.
And the flywheel is around 7kg from memory. Does feel awesome

So this happened in the middle of no where 2.5hrs from Melbourne 3 people up.
Got a flat which happened to match with a horrid bit of road which caused the inside to blow out.
Lucky we weren't back up to highway speed after going through a town, resulted in this for the drive home:
Lucky I took my spare and I decent jack

Dayum :/
Nasty split!!
I'd be spewin!
....also am I going blind or does your wheel seem to be quite far forward in the wheel arch? I would've thought it'd be more centered, but I've never owned a beam rar axle'd car in my life.Originally posted by MightyCarModsI'd rather lose by a mile because I built my own car, than win by an inch because someone else built it for me. Your car is your story, so don't let someone else write the book.

Yeah they roll forward. If you look closely you can see the rub mark from when I was static
Is more like 1 Or 2 o'clock on the arch. That was mostly from 19s, so 17s can get around further (as seen above)
