haven't really noticed any extra attention from anyone really, except for one guy who insisted to me that it was a civic, he had quite a puzzled look on his face when i pointed out the vw badges
This arrived today (courtesy of DaveDel, he has one too):
Also ordered a set of the FK projector headlights, they should arrive in late October.
Swaybars next I think. Then probably ordering some new rotors and pads from GSLRallySport (the EBC RedStuff pads seem to be making quite a meal of my current set of rotors)...
Probably need new tyres soon too - considering the RE002s (have been happy with the RE001s so far, but they're starting to go off a little).
Yesterday, I finally got around to fixing my rear right door central locking motor.
The classic intermittent issues, but always switching the light on & off, meant it was cracked solder joints inside the central locking motor itself (blue arrow on last photo), not the microswitch. This is the 3rd of my doors I've done this on successfully now. I plan on doing the 4th when it has troubles, or just when I have the time, as it's already thrown a code before, so I know it will go soon too.
Here's some basic pics, massive props go to the guys over at vwvortex, for their in depth guides with images!
Also bought a tube of automotive sikaflex + sealed up the drivers side doors properly after putting the internals back in place. (had a tiny leak).

Yeah was the head unit. Screen just decided it has had enough and completely crapped out on me. Touch part still works but wont display anything. Good waste of $2500
white screen of death. fark your car really does hate you....
I'm shattered. Finally received my wheel adapters (hub AND wheel centric) after a month with USPS and they have the wrong centre bore size for my wheels.
They're 5x100 (57.1mm CB) to 5x112 (66.56mm CB). My wheels have 57.1mm.
Anyone need these or wanna swap? I guess I could machine off the wheel centric part but seems like a waste.
Seems like I'll be rolling on stockies for a while longer.
In stock in the garage and yet to go in:
LED interior lights
Mk5 steering wheel
SPM downpipe
original fog lights
ans410 touch screen stereo, dvd, gps...
aftermarket cruise / remote locking
and looks like a custom code stage 2 in the works.... vvvrrrooommmmm

MK5 Jetta 2.Slow - Until it dies.
Dunno if ill be able to machine it down... I know my 57.1 to 57.1 centre bore adapters from Adaptec were a different design to all the other Adaptec ones I have...
If u need to borrow some I have them in 15+20mm to suit older 5x112 audis/new vw.
Yours are designed to suit new audis. Where you get them from?

Got them from some dude in the states. Looks like I can machine the lip bit off without a problem but first I'll have to remove the studs which are pressed in.. Also those studs are too long so I'll need to get them replaced anyway. What a headache!
I don't need the centre bore on the outside if the studs are sticking out? It'll just be like any normal car setup.. Are your 15/20mm ones wheel centric?

Is prefer to have it wheel centric.
Yeah mine are.
Just order some new ones to suit from Adaptec, will be here in like 3 weeks
Yeah I can vouch that it DEFINITELY works. Even though you can barely see the imperfections in the solder, they're there. Re-solder all while you have it out anyway, but it's always been the same 2 on each of my doors, and the ones in the tutorials/guides..
The main difference I do compared to these guides is that I only let the carrier panel lower/hang out enough to get to the door lock modules, I leave all the wiring & window motors attached to the panel. Much easier & prevents unnecessary work. I also have edited these guides into A4 Word doc for much easier reading & printing out, PM me for a copy.
