depends what you want out of it.
from memory...
stage one does a stock refresh
stage two does a heavy duty upgrade where possible. (strut top mounts and control arms bushes i think...?)
stage three does a stock refresh with new control arms and bushes pushed in.
im getting a stage three next time due to my control arms being cracked.
if your car hasnt been flogged over gutters or in a accident, or run decent lows chances are your control arms will be fine, pretty much ruling out stage 3 unless you dont want to press the bushes in yourself.
so it comes down to a stock refresh, or a OEM refresh with some HD items from such cars as the R32 and S3/TT 3.2
Driving home from coles today I was following a Reflex Silver Golf, drove down McIlwraith Avenue from bennetts road. Im assuming it was a 2.0L (p-plater) sounded pretty mean, sat on some Audi A3 turbo wheels and had a VWwatercooled sticker on it.
Who was car? I'm interested hahah.

Lastnight went to a party with my sister im driving back and the 2.slow bora decides to heat up 2am on the freeway. Great! In my hands things gotta go wrong.
Thermo fans wouldnt work water boiled at 110 degrees causing the water to leak out of the over flow
Any bora guru's know where i should look. Fans only turned on with the a/c on.
Anyone??? Clues much appreciated.
