They are pretty easy to get out - fronts have two screws at the rear of the rails (covered by little plastic caps) and two nuts at the front - you push the seat back as far as it will go and undo the nuts, then push it forward a little, remove the screws and the rail covers and then push it until it basically just slides out.

Edit: if you have airbags etc, you'll have to unclip wires so remember to do so

Rear bottom seats mounting points just push in and unclip, and there's a spring loaded clip in the lower mechanism where the seat back fastens to the body of the car, that you just press out of the way with a flat blade screwdriver while lifting the seat back up and out. (They are surprisingly heavy though ...)

re. The brave cat - I'd gone in to grab some food so the vacuum was off - came out and he'd decided to settle down for the evening - was actually yawning when I took the pic. (Hence the ferocious look!)

Your insurance won't care - you're not at fault, they have the at-fault party they can chase for the money. For what it's worth, I had the handbrake fail on my car recently (I'd stupidly not left it in gear when parked on my driveway) - the car rolled backwards down the hill and hit a tree, $2500 worth of parts/repairs - my insurer aren't happy (they get $500 of it back in excess, but that's it...).

And as much as it sucks that you've had another bad episode with the car, you really must tone your posts down...

                      • Got a lot done today with big thanks to Gavin h100vw (no cat to help out as Gavin's cat was busy doing its thing and mine was home guarding the veggies):

Replaced: Air Filter, Oil Filter and Oil Change - magnetic sump plug, Fuel Filter, new MAF, Spark Plugs and new leads, new firmer Dog-Bone Mount (not completely sold on it yet - seems to accentuate vibration and noise in the cabin, but will give it a week), lost then found one of my front grille pieces (in the space of half an hour) at SuperCheap while sourcing degreaser for Gavin's driveway (fortunately it was still there when I retraced my steps), and lastly we fit a full leather interior from Gavin's previous ride(!)

Then got home and hit the leather with cleaner and conditioner - will continue this over the weekend. Also, continued with the de-soft-touching of interior plastics as the finish is all peeling off - not sure what the plan is with this as yet - ie. respray them or just leave them matte if I can get the sanding smooth enough.

(Amazingly, while Gavin was helping me with this stuff, he also fit coil-overs to another ride!)

                            • Alot happier today. Managed to get my hood latch working all good after ripping apart half the front end of the car. Turns out the mechanism for the primary lock had spun all the way around and managed to block the hood latch from opening. So got that fixed and installed grille and hood pull.

Installed bits o plastic such as the battery cover.
Sprayed engine bay with 303 aerospace protector which is absolutely fantastic. Really good stuff that.
                              Installed the engine bay "bumpers"
Tried to install the new clutch switch but found out its slightly different which is annoying. Will trim it down to get it to work.
Fixed the bolts that i rounded for the door lock module
                              Fitted new stubby antenna
                              Fitted the LED city lights
Fitted smoked side markers. Still a bit unsure on those will see how it goes later on.
Fitted new ambient temp sensor.....and forgot to plug it in
And changed over the interior cabin filter which was absolutely filthy as.

Few Pic's With more over here.
