Because there BBS RS sent personally not by a store or ebay seller etc, and one of the bends was previously there but the others have been done in the post... just means i'll be taking my time now fixing, painting/polishing them before they get tyres and on the car

          • Today, after HUGE frustration, i was able to swap the Dieselgeek 6spd short-shifter out of the Golf and into my 4mo Bora. Also swapped the Modshack VTDA from the Golf to the Bora too. happy days!!!

Ended up taking me about 5 hours and the help of 2 other people (yes, i am a nooblet) but the threads on the gear shafts on both cars seemed to be very slightly burred which meant the allow shift links couldn't slide on easily or come off easily.

Going for a test run now to make sure its all good.
EDIT - Just did a quick test drive and HOLY JEEBUS!!! somehow (and someone please explain) the exhaust sounds different (different cool, not different bad) and seems way louder once it hits about 2800 rpm all ther way out to 6K rpm. i also obviously get the mad sucking sound when you accelerate from idle.

                        • Just replaced all the plugs and coils.

Out of interest's sake I found

                          • 6 x NGK PZFR5D-II spark plugs (I replaced them with new identical units.)
                          • 4 x Rev A coils mfg date 43/01 Bremi (Probably original with the car)
                          • 1 x Rev N coil mfg date 16/05 Bremi
                          • 1 x Rev N coil mfg date 13/08 Bremi (The VW AU one I put in last week)

All plugs were finger tight - I spun them out by hand with no ratchet on the extension.
New plugs were installed to 25NM as per Bentley manual.

I put all 6 of the GAP coils in so they're all the same and I'll keep the REV N Bremi ones as spares.

If anyone wants a REV A one to keep in the glovebox for the next big road trip, just in case, let me know. (They'll be a lot cheaper than VW AU )

                          • Along with Manaz' ECS Group Buy I was considering the ECS Electrics Refresh kit for peace of mind. Actually tbh i am considering the suspension refresh as well along with a full fluids change in the engine and gearbox and maybe even new rotors and a new battery.

How do you figure out the date? I just purchased 3 x 022905100N from ECS as this was the part number on the coil I got from VW when one let go a couple of weeks ago. I got confused with all the different numbers and went with that one. I saw the GAP coil for $20 but they dont even list the part number on their site as far as I could tell so I wasnt sure about it
