Got my trolley jack from autobharn before PI and it was about $30-40 and can go real low.

Mine was from there too and I thought it could go real low... till I put the coils in and saw what real low was

Can I suggest you drive your car to the shop and ask the sales guy to bring the jack outside to see if it fits before you lay down your hard earned.

If it has an engine or heartbeat it's going to cost you.

This photo is the day the coils went in, after a little settling it was even lower...

bloody freakin mother of all that is holy!!!! that looks so damn good!!!! How hard is it to adjust them yourself? I assume that is what the c spanner is for?

Seriously screw the sound system - I'm getting some of these for sure.

What other parts should I buy when I am doing the swap? struts? mounts? rubber bouncy bits? I want to get an idea of how much I will be spending *after* I get these to my door...

well considering i already had the front rubber mounts cause they wre new and my rear ones were in good nic all i did was take the old ones outs slapped the new ones in adjusted the shocks took me a whilemind you
wheels on wheels off wheels on wheels off i did this about 4 times lol

you dont need a spring compressor to get the front mounts off all i did was whack em with a soft hammer there tight but they come off

you can undo the rears fine no compressor involved they just slide out as well

so spring kit cost me 535 dollers including postage
you will need a wheel alignment 40 dollers odd
and a couple of c spanners depending on brand you get 20 bucks each maybe
if you need new mounts might have to consult a more experienced dubber ie, wat, to get prices etc me not know

all up will cost me 615 dollers

I am so doing it. I reckon I should be buying them before the weeks end!

Can anyone else tell me how much all the 'essential' rubber bits will be and which ones are good to replace?

your looking at around $150 for bearings and rubbers (for the front) and around $40 a side just for the rubbers for the rears from your local VW dealership. if your doing new suspension its best to replace them. More than likely they will be shot. - as I learned the hard way by having to completley remove the front strut assy shortly after I installed them.

                        front bearings:

front rubber: this sits ontop of the bearing

Can you describe the noise? Creaking? Clunks?

                          • I had clunkiness with the coilovers in my Seca, turned out to be the strut tops which were struggling with the extra hardness of the new struts. New strut tops cured it, could be a similar problem
