    My trusty haynes manual says i need to remove the steering column is this the case matt? I love working at night it gives me time during the day to work on it!!

      Why is the dash coming out, are you doing a heater core ?

        If you need to remove the steering column, go for the U bolt down near the pedals. When I was changing the ignition switch, it was much easier to take the column out at that point than taking it out bit by bit (you'd need a puller for that too )
        Past: Mk3 Golf 2L 8V, Audi 8L A3T.
        Present: Mk3 Golf variant.

          No need to take off the column mate. You are bringing back loads of memories. I was doing heaps of them back in 95,96 in the UK, they were going on fire due to the dimdip resistor rubbing on the bodywork causing a short. Anyway i wont bore u with that.
          Keep up the good work it will b worth it mate.

            The motor came with full loom so im planning to carefully remove mine so some lucky mk1 bugger has an easy transplant like i do

            Im tempted to do a heater core while im at it tho lol.

              I would do it while you have the dash out or give it three weeks and it will go murphey's law

                              A few weeks at this rate im going. Hopefully by the end of this week the motor will be ready to come out. Im in no rush as i would prefer to have the coilovers installed whilst the car is in the garage and ill need to save for that. Realistically ive got until april to finish the car!
