  • I've trawled through a few threads on Vortex and the guys say the Diamond Racing wheels are cheap. Of course, factor in shipping and taxes and cheap becomes anything but.

I agree with Golf Houso though - look around a bit more until you find what you think are the PERFECT set of wheels. Sometimes they may be right under your nose. I visit UpGarage regularly as they bring in a lot of wheels from Japan, and the adapters I recently acquired means I can drool with the intention of buying haha. Widened Mk4 steelies would be sick too, though if you've talked to Matt recently, they're not as easy to find as you think!

Oh and remember, it's not a sin having more than one set of wheels

    • Haha your not wrong there Raymond! I will send them an email today about there wheels they I am more worried about the long term with the Diamond racing ones! I remember Matt and Dave saying that they had a troubled time trying to find the mk4 steelies Ohwell I am not all that fussed.

I am really torn between the widened steelies and the Keskin KT1s I think that are pron right there.

My only problem with the importing of the wheels I got a price off TMTuning which are usually rip offs and they quoted me $1250 US delivered to here! Which equivalates to about $1400 AUD which is awesome, my only problem is that when they get over here will I have to pay extra?

I know to send them in 2 shipments to get the cost down but is that the only thing? or is there more?

Thanks for all your help everyone really apreciate

          • TM Tuning arent the cheapest place about no. Their shipping rates are usually really good though. The main problem is that their budget shipping option takes anywhere from 2 weeks to 2 months. So u have to play the waiting game. Can get a bit frustrating but oh well.

            • Theres nothing wrong with cheap wheels lol, as long as they look the part! I have cheapo taiwanese made wheels on my car and they suit it realy well (no offence to any taiwanese people out there), couldn't find a set better that suited at the time. If I would have gotten some now, I'd have gotten something completely differentm I'd personally realy like to have some fat dish polished steelies to be honest, but then again I am quite poor lol. Your preferences change by the week and by how often you read a magazine or search the net. Keep that in mind as well...

Also steelies look pretty good on white cars too!

              • the good thing about expensive wheels is they dont usually weigh a tonne. Which i think should be a consideration steve.

When i was in your position i went chasing the lightest rims i could afford in a style that i liked. Thats how i ended up with the SSRs.

                • Ever considered a set of dragways? I've always fancied them on the hotted up local cars, I think they could work a treat on your VR6.

I'm very partial to Jap wheels How much did you get those for, and were they new when you did?

Also when you're looking for wheels, think about their construction. Forged = lightness and toughness, but this is offset by the sheer cost. That said, I think cast wheels do the job well enough I reckon. Also, multi-piece as opposed to one-piece. It's fun taking apart wheels and rebuilding them to the specs and looks of your liking!

Shipping wasnt too expensive cos they only weigh 12.5lbs each
But yeah tyre rack used to sell them brand new for $350US per wheel to give you an idea of what theyre worth
