There are some audi tt's on pickles you should put the 1.8t motor in and while your there fit the TT dash!!

yeah but got to remember im a noob when it comes to engines. trying to keep this one as simple as possible so i can learn.
THEN ill find myself a 1.8t or 1.9/2tdi for borat

so have finally pulled the engine


Started to give it a bit of a clean up around the engine bay and a degreasing session.
found a touch of surface rust on the passenger side of the bay where some wires/lines sit against the body work. not sure what i should be doing to solve this...
bay had something spilt down the side that reminded me of wax on my bodyboard, had to get a razor blade to 'peal' it off. was 3-5mm thick in spots.

and pending me putting all the money through/picking it up I have found a VR6!

stock for the moment. needs new chains, some seals/gaskets, and ill get the head looked at while im at it.
Ill get it registered and on the road, pending its running ok ill be looking at something clean and simple bolt on. but thats way down the track

sorta just happened. dad set it all up while i was down in melb one weekend (hint at me to hurry up???)

Hey Dylan just wondering if you know if there's going to be any rego/insurance issues?? I'm kind of thinking of buying a running 2.0 and then in Christmas holidays doing a VR swap... But obviously being a P-plater I'd prefer not to have any more insurance/rego issues haha

insurance i havnt looked into TBH, in your case im sure someone would insure you. would probably be paying more each year then the car is worth though...
rego im hoping ill be ok as the mk3 jetta vr6 was a car sold in overseas markets, going to get a letter from volkswagen specifying this, and try to replicate the over seas model as much as possible, going to keep it stock for rego to try and get it though as easy as possible.
Not sure if there are any Aus home built vr6 ventos regoed? if so ill be keen to see how they went
