After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Apart from the middle piece of the subframe, nothing is interchangeable between the widetrack and normal setup. Personally I would stick with four stud and run a good pad + rotor setup, or if you want more, a 280mm setup from a Cupra. I've kinda regretted going 5x100 sometimes, just much easier to find 4x100 wheels.Originally posted by dylan8 View Post
Another thing you could do to have a smaller track is to run Mk2 bits. I don't remember what parts you need (definitely the control arms, not sure what else) but there's another 10mm clearance you can gain. Some of the hardcore Vortexers have done it haha.
If you remember my wheels way back at SEDF 2010, they were 17x8 ET20 on the front, and ET10 on the rears. I liked that setup, though I was scraping a lot.Comment

thanks ray! I do recall you saying about the 4 stud a while back, but i plan to share wheels between the bora and vento (bbs and the current set im eyeing off) so thats my reason.
Im not vortex hardcore thats for sure haha. I will add that to my list of things i need to study on there.
The grey/pink beasts? Sure do, how could i forget!! Thats a good reference.
Just noticed the ones im looking at are et23 actually. So that should give me enough roomComment

Just FYI Dyl, after exams I'll be looking to find a way to run 5x100, but narrow track. There might be some options out there for that, still have to do some extra research & emailing first though.
I don't figure I'm going to be running 15" 'rims' (ie phat RS's etc, not just stockies) any time soon, (i'm more into 16"s/17"s for mk 3's) hence why I'm looking to go 5x100, just FYI.Comment

Maybe look into some double up hubs Dyl, 4x100 and 5x100 so you can keep the narrow track (or even run MK2 arms and tie rods), but keep the availability of wheels off the Bora

It wont fit on a standard mk3 hub no. Plenty of high offset wheels out there that tend to go for cheap. I reckon a set of adaptors is the way to go. Low offset wheels always seem to command a higher price on the second hand market anyways.Originally posted by Lorenz View Post

I remember ECS doing a brake kit that was just that - bigger brakes in 5x100 but allow you to still run the 2.0L control arms and driveshafts etc etc. Can't seem to find it now though...Originally posted by Jarred View PostComment

Havnt had a chance to do much research for a while, so ill have to get onto it.
Not much to update on the vento.
Cut the mobile aerial thing off the front window, pulled out as much wire as I could (included the handset holder, which was jumped up under the gear leaver somewhere), got the old etag bracket and rego stickers off (etag bracket was stuck on so well the fishing line cut through the plastic before it would cut through the sticky part)
pulled the passenger seat out with some help from stu (so simple once its pointed out to you...)
Found some more goodies including a dog lead, house lightglobe, thermos mug.
Quick shot of what I plan to fit hopefully without to much modification, new vs old
