Vento seems to have started a terrible idle. Starts off as a bit of a miss or vibration, after 10 seconds or so it turns into have a wild over sized cam.
Feels ok once on the accelerator. Any way of testing the idle control valve without a vagcom?
I unplugged the maf and it didn't seem to make any difference

Added the vr6 fire wall heat shield.
What a night mare with motor in and brake lines plumbed in, hopefully keeps the floor and tunnel a touch cooler
Fitted my oem coolant sensor cover finally
Was going to fit my neuspeed strut brace, but it fowls on the coolant bottle, not sure if this is because I'm running a 2Lt one.
Found and fitted a oem battery cover. Looks so much neater.

Cheers!
Yeah I didn't even realise I had one until I stumbled across it at my parents house looking for other parts.
Took the Vento out last night and so far so good. Floor and tunnel stayed pretty much cold, will see if that's still the case on a hot day when getting driven harder

My stripped mk3, no fire wall shield, rubber mat on inside removed as well as missing grommets in firewall was never 'hot'

So no dice on the heat in the cabin problem.
The insulation cuts noise down, and held the heat at bay for longer but still managed to work it's way in this morning.
Next is suss the cat for a blockage and check for exhaust leaks in the bay/pre cat

Sorted the rear suspension knock! Turns out it wasn't the rear beam bushes, although I will replace the beam soon anyway just so everything is fresh.
Oil and filter change, went for a lighter oil again this time.
Found one of the front engine mount/gear box bolts had backed itself out too and was sitting pretty loosely.
Car feels so much better and punchy now, I'm assuming the beam and loose engine bay bolts were causing a fair bit of movement and meaning the power didn't go straight to the ground on acceleration.
Picked up a welded and ported down pipe. Also a second set of exhaust manifolds so will have a crack at matching those too.
On to building a new set of wheels and start stage 1 of the exhaust in preparation for Vits hopefully
Iv put about 3200miles on it since the new cluster,
Fairly happy motoring other than running out of fuel a couple of times and the excessive heat and noisesLast edited by dylan8; 06-04-2017, 07:31 AM.

Well done, good luck tracking down the cause of the excessive heat (I assume you have figured out what causes the excessive noise)

Few chassis plugs missing and bit of foam sealing the shifter to the tunnel are missing so let's plenty of road noise in.
Also an exhaust leak or two
