Thanks for that VW Imposter, will have to wait to get the VIN numbers to run checks on where they are from, but as my partners family is SA, you never know what they have done Shouldnt matter too much as the 2 that I need to swap the engines over into are the same (ie external trims / vintage).

Jarred, that's the plan, to make 2 good ones and off load the other (more information in a couple of months about the 3rd one being offloaded )

It's been addressed many times before, but the later model will have 288mm front brakes, and the older 280mm.... plenty more little changes too.

Yeah, your right, all the South African models came with the 5 spoke rims, black plastic beading and all models had leather seats.

              Red one...

So it looks like the red and purple ones are the same model?? Might be easier to get the red one going with the motor out of the purple beast....

Yeah looks like they are both early VR's, red one must have had the guards taken off..... How long have they been off the road ?

Man the VR6's must be getting rarer and rarer. Everytime I see another write off or something like these two I have to wonder. With under 800 to start with how many are actually left on the roads?

If it has an engine or heartbeat it's going to cost you.

I believe they have been off the road for over 3-4 years each, the history I have quickly at the family bbq, was the purple auto is dead / the engine is "ok", the red one was driven into a creek, believe the engine is dead, and yet to find out what else. Want to rebuild the red one / fix up the current grey one out of the purple one.

Well I hope to start by saving 2 out of these 3

Well part one has been done, my daily driver Subaru just sold!

Now when the partners dad gets back from OS in a month, can put some money down on them and make them officially mine and free to tinker with!

Use that VIN decoder posted earlier in this thread, so far 2 of the 3 were built in Wolfsburg.
