Haven't seen extended balljoints for VR6 but you could still flip the tie-rod for clearance (just need to drill through the tapered hole on the knuckle). ****loads of bump steer afterwards though, since tie-rod angle will be different to LCA angle.

If you want mass bump steer. Only heard bad things about them J-rad...Originally posted by Jarred View Postmy tie rods have marks from rubbing on them too :S
it would be easier, and I think better, to get tie rod flip kit and ball joint extenders.
Threads I have read all say "the flip kit was unsuccessful!"

tie rod flip kit is supposed to alleviate bump steer. It shouldnt make it worse

This. Gotta get the LCA angle and tie-rod angle the same.Originally posted by sortofbigbj View PostFrom what I've read tie rod flips are okay as long as you extend the ball joints, but bumpsteer gets crazy bad if you just flip the tie rod without the balljoint extenders, which is why i'd rather cut my frame up than do it

Ben and Ray are right here. There was alot of info in Alex G's swallowtail build about this.
The idea of the tie rod flip kit and ball joint extender was to lower the control arm closer to parallel (the 'ideal' for operation of the suspension). if they're not used together you'll get massive bump steer, as ray mentioned, this is because the control arm and tie rod aren't parallel to each other.
Either way, if you can't get ball joint extenders for VR6's then you guys need not worry! They're still on my list of things to do though (it's a long list thourgh
)
