was thinking about performance the other day and boring the heads came into mind...kinda new to dubs and their limits and was wondering if anyone knew if a 2.8L vr6 could be bored to maybe a 3L??? is this possible??

you bore the block to increase displacement, not the head. But yeah, you can bore the vr6 block to as big as like 3.1L I believe, you then need bigger pistions and such, and unless you have a really heavily built engine the gains arent really worth it from what I've read. Porting the head and getting bigger valves and such to make it flow nicely gets some nice gains on a vr though supposedly, especially when combined with cams and exhaust and all thatsigpic

take a search on the vortex in the 12v 2.8L section for porting, boring, head work etc, theres a lot in there. this link is pretty general but amazing if you havent rread it VWVortex.com - How to build a relatively inexpensive, reliable, powerful Vr6..sigpic

Ive had larger pistons fitted and the actually opening up of the bores took a really long time!! No-one really has the jigs here to machine out a 15 degree V6.
As for power gain, spend the money on a 24V conversions, better bang for buckEuro Revolution - eurorevolution@live.com.au

in that thread linked above, when the guy talks about the 2.9 manifold and he talks about the problem with the 6th cylinder closest to the driver and slight affect on the 5th with flow and restriction...is that concerning the euro 2.9 or our 2.8's?CURRENT: '76 MK1 Golf 2dr (1.8 8V, twin webers.. soon to be 16v)
