Yeah, wtf to those things. I'm seeing them everywhere now! I expect to see a teenage girl driving but sometimes see 40 year old men behind the wheel. What's the deal with them anyway?
    Past: Mk3 Golf 2L 8V, Audi 8L A3T.
    Present: Mk3 Golf variant.

I cant say I've noticed them. But theres a shop near me that is called Frangipani. Scores of women inside always.

It must be some kind of cult.

            Right... Plan B.

Sit quietly until after my Tax return comes in, which should be in the next week or so, then start looking around at VR6's again.

Try as I might to look at MKII's even MkII's with MkIII 2.0L's in them I really prefer the VR6. Newer, shinier, v6...

Been looking at interstate cars too as I'm not totally against the idea of a LONG drive or shipping back to Sydney. Wouldn't be the first time I flew somewhere to pick up a car and drive it home

I have noticed a few manual '94 to '96 VR6's listed between $6,000 and $9,000. So I'm sure I can find something if I look around.

...and now we play the waiting game...

If it has an engine or heartbeat it's going to cost you.

The only thing I see a difference in for you is that a VR6 is going to have a lot bigger fuel bill then your GLD is, try double the fuel usage when pushing it. So take that into account.

But then again finding a TDi MK3 which is faster then a Vr6 from 80-100km's, is just about impossible, or they have been driven by people who drive them hard so need a lot of work.

I reckon a VR6 fuel bill will easily be triple or quadruple that of the Mk1 Diesel.

I still dont get the "VR6's are thirsty" thing. Mine drinks as much fuel as my old 2L 4cyl carbie mazda 626 did!

The Mk1 1.5l GLD with a 5 speed in it literally runs on the smell of an oily rag, so no matter what I get to replace it it will use more fuel (unless it's another Diesel).

Further to that, I can EASILY see double the fuel used in the 2.8L petrol VR6 vs the 1.5l Diesel MkI. For starters it's twice the engine Oh and it has the potential to be priven in such a way as to significatly waste fuel... also

I am prepared for the fuel bill, I have to be getting worse than about 23l/100 kms before my budget is out.

While I'm thinking about it.... and putting together my budget.

Can anyone recommend a good Australian (or overseas if needed) supplier of Angel eye headlights to fit a MkIII VR6?

Also are there any other suggested mods that I may find of interest, also an estated cost for any recommendations would be nice. More after go that show, but I really like those headlights

That Canberra Car looks OK Hawk, wonder what he`d take for it?

Check the heater works. Best part of $1000 to fix it.

Been chatting to a guy tonight.

Going out to see this one first thing in the morning and if it's as good as it sounds over the phone it looks like I may have found my car

Only issue is the heater is stuffed in this one, but if thats all thats wrong I think I can live with that if the price is right. (By which I mean get it fixed.. eventually...).

                              Well this is it:

Went out and looked at it this morning, is very clean and straight, drives well etc etc etc

Like I said, heater is disconnected, everything else *seems*good, no obvious leaks, no strainge noises.

                              BUT

Went to get the REVs check done and it's been flagged as a repairable write off. Which makes me a little concerned. But like I said, both my father in law and brother in law (who is mad into Commodores) have looked over it and think it looks OK. Still a little concerned anway.

Anyway, picking it up in a couple of hours... where I will have another good go over it, but otherwise looks like I have found my car.

If it has an engine or heartbeat it's going to cost you.
