bah u two need to stay out of eachothers threads if you cant play nicely!

And loon not wanting to stir **** but from memory if we are talking about the same VR6 ibiza now owned by william. You purchased it as an unfinished project. It was advertised on ebay for ages before you got it.

But yeah cut the crap! This thread is about courtneys car. Which in seeing it take off from golfworx place a couple weeks ago is an awesome piece of kit! Sounds tough as. Looks a lil bit rough round the edges but its a daily driver.. Not a show car.

I was amazed to see how well the aristo rims suited it as well. I would have thought they would look too big.

x2 on that... I remember it, he advertised it real cheap too. It was all bolted together before you got it, it just needed the finishing touches

I think that the VR6 is great - in terms that you have spent time and money to modify it how you wanted it to be for your purposes, that is great.

I spose really how fast it is down the 1/4 will be known only once you have done it.

Sounds like a healthy debate and i think both have handled it quiet well....no slanging....very good gentlemen

All done by Adam at Just Engine Management 99KW ATW on the first tune. We then tweaked it later, dunno what we got that time.

We actually had to send the computer back to Microtech as it was sent out with the wrong settings and had been installed by monkeys.

Dunno that it was ever in Brisbane, I got it from Liverpool. It had never run when I had it and it was probably harder to repair all the stuff ups done by previous mechanics than just build it myself.

Thanks for the support guys, discussion and debate is healthy, its a shame if it has to degenerate into slanging.

This is a very nice build with alot of thought put into all the part's selection which cam take alot of time & experience to get the setup's right.

After all it wasn't just a engine build. It's a complete drivetrain overhaul which is no small task I reckon

Look forward to seeing it run at both Portland & hopefully if I can make it. WSID.

P.S. It did sound pretty bloody nice leaving my house!

I won't argue with this, but I'll add that not all dyno's or operator's are created equal. I had my car old car on a dyno for nearly a day one time & we played around with everything. I managed to screw another 10rwkw's out of it & thought. This is great!

Put it on the street & it was an absolute pig. Would chock & flood under a full throttle take off. On the dyno it was fine.

Nothing compares to real world/real load & real time tuning.

Thats why alot of people use the MPH of a 1/4 mile. As it take's so much power to push a car that weigh's so much over that 1320ft that fast.

Another one which I've been reading more & more about is the big white dyno.

Same principles apply. Certain weight takes so much power to push it so fast over a timed distance.

Thought I'd add this for laugh's. Just liked the pic! haha

That must be one very slow VS SS sorry Spyda.

My stock VN 5L auto ran 14.8

Friends stock VN 5L manual ran 14.5

Friends stock VS GTS ran 14.0

Friends stock VE SS auto 13.6

Cousins stock Evo 3 with 80+kgs of stereo with 15psi ran 13.0

Can't remember the mph of these cars sorry

All of these cars were in full street trim ie. street tyres, full interior, spares etc.

I remember that the first oz built VR6 mk2 ran 14.4 full stripped out. Not bad considering how long ago it was.

Just saw this and must say awesome work, you should definitely do easy 14's with a little more tweaks here and there. Took mine to the Motorplex a couple of weeks ago, and got :
                    660ft - 9.85 @118.92km/h
                    1/4mile - 15.1.
My engine is stock apart from a pod filter and 2.5" catback exhaust. Other than that it's just lowered. Suspension should be your next area of interest IMO.

Oh and i'm pretty sure there a pic of your car on the strip in the latest issue of Volkswagen australia.

Haha dont be sorry man, i dont care. That was my mates first run when he was 19 so im sure the car wasnt in great shape and he had no idea what he was doing. Thats the only actual VS SS time slips that ive seen, i have no idea what it is suposta do but thats what he got.

Still vr6 = slow in comparison. I knows its only half the engine but its also have the car. Its a bit anoying to see people arguing about whos cars faster when all the cars are slow.

My mates close friend has a VS BT1, looking stock from the outside running 11.8 on street tyres with a NA 5L (i havnt seen the time slip but by the sound of the engine i dont doubt it). The wheels chirp on each turn of the cam when its ideling in drive.

Got any pics of your cuz evo, i hear alot about it but have never seen it.

                        .
sorry to chime in and be off topic too - but a vr6 mk3 weighs a good 1300kg realistically, and a VT commodore weighs 1650.... thats a big difference sure, but not half

anyway, woot for something built and driven

Just FYI... I ran a 14.1 @ 101 MPH in my 96' VR6 at WSID. Stock internals on the engine, custom CAI, dropped exhaust after the cat and GIAC chip.. I took the passenger and rear seats out and had 1/8 tank of fuel...

60' time was 2.2 and i was running Falken semi slicks
