Why couldn't VW have just used shrick manifolds....ugh!
Very nice dude. I think you should paint it.
VW actually designed the Schrick VGI for the Corrado, and then sold it to Schrick once they scrapped their use of it due to an apparent unacceptable increase in cost!
You're making us all envious with that Schrick Alex!
another updatey, a few things confirmed with the bottom end and as a side note this is busting my wallet! I didn't anticipate it costing what it is! haha, but i'm so deep now that I just gotta keep diggin I hope it's worth it .
We're keeping the original rods but polishing and shot peening them (because new forged wossner rods are something like 3k!! + I don't really require them), using Wossner forged 83.5mm 11.0:1 pistons, polished crank, balancing everything, ARP main studs, head studs and rod bolts and new bearings and gaskets throughout.
For your information the 83.5 pistons should bump the stock displacement of 2.8L to just under 3L whilst the bump in compression is from the stock 10.0:1 to 11.0:1 (or there abouts and also depending on whether I use the mk4 head gasket too, which would raise it another .5)
We also had the block sonic tested for thickness and cracks to determine if the walls were thick enough to safely bore out, i'll post the results somewhere here in the appropriate section for those who are interested.
any real increase in the rev range with all these mods?
VW: it aint just a car, its a way of life There are few things more satisfying in life than finding a solution to a problem and implementing it

You would think so, the rev limiter would increase to atleast 7000rpms!
surely more than that? thats not much of an increase at all!

Yeh, stand alone management will be used and it'll rev to around 7.5-8k, it's a 6cyl remember and the stock is like 6.5k! hopefully the powerband will kick at somewhere like 4.5k worse than lag huh haha
Holy dooly man...
That thing is gonna wail like a banshee...
You doing some crazy stuff there, good to see. Sounds like it would've almost have been cheaper to whack an R32 setup in it.
Is Darius helping you out much? I don't really see him much in his little Honda Matchbox car that he's driving around in at the moment.
Cheers,
Trent
