I don't imagine it would have been, and thats why its its treated in almost as the same way as the VR6 in a three i.e. respected with a considerable following... Its still no 1.8T mind you.

a 16v will give a VR a good run for its money. mid range on the VR is very stronge but a point to point run would be fun!!!

Especially with good twisties. I'd imagine the 16v is more agile... ?

my last cam belt was cheap, it was the tensioner that cost the bucks!!!

Well then you have missed a cog mate. Plus the belt is more expensive.

This is getting funny.

I prefer 16v myself but like the MK1 more and the conversion isn't worth the dollars as the difference doesn't justify the cost.

So I love 16v but happy with an 8v mk1.

I still buy stuff from ebay UK for my mk1....Loads of stuff.

In a mk3 an 8v just isnt as fun to drive as a 16v full stop.
