  • "Black Pearl" mk2 golf

    hi all

just purchased 1984 mk2 golf that I will be using as daily or try to at least...at this stage I couldn't see any rust so I'm pretty happy about that...so why black pearl??? well it started its life as silver mk2 but previous owner has replaced most of the things with black big bumper mk2 that he had sitting around, and unlike black pearl which was fastest on the water this thing is 1.6 Carburetted brick... but its my brick...some off you will say that carbie can be tuned and the car will be quick, but I don't want to go fast...low and slow...car is being transported to QLD from VIC by car carrier...

    few facts about the car;

    1984 mk2 golf
1.6 carbie - need tunning at this stage
    jom coil overs
dildo gear nob - needs to go
    big bumper conversion
drivers door is early model mk2, so it has a quarter window - replacement with latter model door
passenger door is later model mk2, so no quarter window
had problems putting it on tow truck due to height (never thought I would say this but it needs to be raised)
roof lining needs to be replaced - as there is staples holding it near the C pillar
sun visors need to be put on
it might have a leak on the sump
    wipers work when they want
    passenger side mirror missing

that's just what I noticed or was told by previous owner

got handful of photos that I will post when I work it out how...more will be posted when the car gets here....

why Rabbid, well its not GTI it is CL

that's all for now, hope you guys can assist with parts or knowledge

Looks like a fun little project.
I always hated those sheets car transporters use to point of every defect in the paint haha

Why does it have an aftermarket ignition system?

That's way too low to be a daily driver. JOM coilovers would be too stiff as well.

Have a look at the MK2 thread in my signature for tips on getting your car to be a daily and still be fun to drive.

                Cheers

                Paul

                            so other fun facts are:
I have 1 out of 4 bolts on crank pulley,
electric fuel pump, old one still attached but plugged back so need to get delete for it
                            electric distributor cap,
                            no fog lights, just covers
dual headlights aren't connected. just low beam
driver side skirt not secured, missing side skirts covers...

also running rough when moving as in losing spark...so need to check timing...

that's all at the moment, any input is welcome

                            thanks
