Panels are rare as rocking horse sh*t.

Even cheap MK2's are restored nowadays instead of wrecked for parts.

Looks good with the new wheels, what size tyres did you get?

    Cheers

I'm looking at painting all the bumpers and trim. Keen to see how yours turn out.

I thought all Aussie spec mk2's had antennae in the guards?
Could be wrong. I was going to do a delete, but radio reception is pretty crap around my parts.
          Wheels look good!

            Don't paint the external trims!

Best I've used is BlackWow. It's not permanent but makes them look like the day they were put on in the factory.

These are beyond saving unfortunately. I've tried 2-3 different 'back to black' treatments and they just make them shiny grey. The pics i've posted of the car definitely don't make them out to be as bad as they actually are. Also my front bumper is damaged and needs some work.

I'm going to use a specialist plastic bumper paint and the finish replicates new plastic bumpers. Tested a piece i can replace easily first and it looks brand new.

f320kty: Do you have a passenger side front guard flare? Spare bonnet? Colour of the bonnet doesn't matter as i'm planning on turning a mk2 bonnet into an art piece as silly as that sounds. re; the fuel pump housing, i had bought one new on ebay but now 5 weeks later they emailed me at 5am this morning telling me they can't supply one. I was furious. Luckily, Matt from Camden GTI called me yesterday with one (including fuel pump etc...) for a good price. I left him a message this afternoon telling him i'll take that one before i've seen your post.

golfmeup: mine has a beesting antenna, isnt this normal? I was tempted to add an extra antenna for DAB+ reception (head unit i'm installing also has DAB) but i've bought an antenna splitter so i can use the factory antenna for DAB too

Il check if I have a flare - do u need front or rear ?

A lot of euro guys paint the bumpers and flares and remove the texture so they are high gloss like the rest of the body

Only cars to get roof aerial are 16V and Rallye , all normal GTI have aerial on the n/s guard .

hmm thats odd then. Perhaps someone has retrofitted one at some stage.

                          Need a front flare.

I want to keep the plastic texture. Generally want to make this car as close to standard as i can.
