My Mk2 GTI - the road to rego

I get most of my stuff from the local wrecker. He's got no MK2's but a few MK3's and the suspension is the same on both cars. Lucky for me he doesn't get many requests for old Golf parts.

ok so i'm going to bite the bullet and buy the H&R kit, also buy a ECS front and rear "refresh kit". Stage 2 on the front, rear there is only one option.

Probably a stupid question, does my car have power steering? haha. I've only ever driven it once and its 1400kms away from me at the moment at my parents house. Seems to make a difference in the stage 2 front kit

Aussie spec MK2's all had power steering and air conditioning.

Had to justify the price tag back in 1992.

Ifit's Aussie delivered, which I am certain it is, then will have Power Steering.

Yeah we got the touring kit.

How the shift linkages? Prob worth getting that done while you are at it.

shift is OK, its not perfect but its far from buggered i suppose. Expensive refresh?

Lots of cheap linkage kits on ebay but I'd only get one if the gearshift was sloppy.

H&R Cup Kit - Touring spec
Kamei gearnob
Foglights
Front Bumper indicators
Door Catch pin x 4 + some other hardware
Gearshift repair kit - was cheapish, why the heck not.

H&R stuff will be about 5 weeks away, the rest about a week

Holes for fogs and wiring is there, lights/housings themselves are not.

3 out of the 4 are original from memory

In the last day or so i've managed to find a 165 201 042 A - Fuel accumulator housing from the USA brand new!!! Will assist greatly in getting rid of the fuel leak. Also picked up a new dipstick plastic thingy as mine is busted.

Once this is all fitted i shouldnt be far away from rego

set up an alert but all i saw was second hand ones for SILLY prices. One popped up and then another the next day from a different seller.. go figure

i hate replying to my own replies but here goes.

Bit of an update, my suspension will probably either arrive Friday or Monday depending on how fast DHL is. My bundle of stuff from the UK should arrive tomorrow. Only unknown is the fuel pump housing. No communication from the seller so far so doesn't bode well. It should be here according to the ebay listing in the next week.

I've sanded and painted the wheels and got the front ones on the car. Need to switch tyres on the rear ones before they go on (realised that one of them was a different size to the rest and one was on its way out). Picked up some bridgestone MY02's for $80 a corner.

While i had the front wheels off i painted my calipers red too :p Came up really well after cleaning the calipers with some degreaser/wax grease remover and a wire brush.

Also in that pic, i painted my rear hatch spoiler in a bumper matt black paint and it came up great! Will eventually go around the car and do all of them.

Question for everyone - does anyone know of any black GTI's wrecking? Would like another bonnet/front passenger guard with flare and front bumper.
