Thought I'd get a shot of the wheels before I polish them.

        Lol Paul.
I ran out of time today, spent over 30 mins trying to pop the bonnet, so gave up and took the kids for a drive to a local waterfall.
I'll have a crack tomorrow morning at aligning the lights properly so I don't blind on coming drivers.
Still need to sort out the wiring for the new loom.

Managed to get the bonnet open again without removing the grill.
What a beep that was, bonnet latch is now aligned properly and bonnet opens! Yay!

Headlight wiring loom is connected. Used the one I bought from ebay, so no cutting needed!

Been ages since I've posted anything.
Busy time, but have been driving the mk2 pretty much everyday.
Such a fun car to drive on the windy 30 min drive to work everyday.

Good to see you're getting lots of use out of it, they make great daily drivers.

If only my wife could understand, she thinks I'm crazy.

                Cheers Paul,
Don't worry my wife thinks I'm crazy too! Spent half the day bogging and sanding while the kids played.

                Happy New Year to all!!

Australia Day long weekend, great excuse to do a service on the mk2.
Nulon fully synthetic oil, new belly pan gasket, oil filter, leads.
Won't have time to do the timing belt, I'll do that in the next few weeks.
Should be running like a clock again.

the pan gasket was a no go, running out of time.
Fresh oil and new filter and tightened all the belts. Seems to be idling better now, had a bit of a second fix up on the rubber idle pipe.

                      Have you lowered it yet?

There's some cheap MK3 coilovers in the for sale section that would fit but they might be a bit stiff.

                      Cheers

Hi Paul, haven't had the time or energy yet to fit the lowered springs.
Dusted them the other day and looked at the top mounts - that was all I had time for lol.

And get those springs swapped over. Took me only 2 hours to put in a full set of Spax gas shocks and springs last weekend. It's a very easy job.

Any plans on making it to the VW Nationals in Sydney this year? 24-25 May.

                            Cheers

                            Paul

Sorry late reply - Springs will happen soon, hope to have a bit of time on the car in the next couple of weeks.
2 hrs sounds not bad. I'll be replacing the strut mounts as well, so might take me a bit longer.

                                Some updates on my mk2.

New front tyres to replace Paul's old Khumo's on the RA's. Bit tight on $ so went for a pair of Khumo souls HS51, nice grippy pattern and they were in stock. Not bad for $99 a side fitted and balanced.

Also had the cat converter replaced - engine now sounds heaps better and car seems to be running a lot smoother.
I was getting a nasty smoke smell going down a big hill close to work and that is gone thank god!

                                Some pics!
